Why Study at MIT-WPU?
Founded by Dr. Vishwanath D Karad in 1981, MIT-WPU has been one of the leading educational institutes in Pune. The institute is more well-known for its cultural diversity than for giving students an excellent and world-class education.
Affiliated with the UGC (University Grants Commission), Bar and Pharmacy Council of India, MIT-WPU ranked under the top 100 colleges in India by India Today. Are you or anyone you know a 12th student joining college next year? Here are a few reasons why you should choose MIT-WPU!
Benefits of Studying at MIT World Peace University
The Sprawling campus and infrastructure
The first feature anyone notices about a college or university is its campus. MIT-WPU has a sprawling campus covering about 65 acres in Pune's central residential area, Kothrud. Not only is it known for its humongous campus, but the college is also home to more than 350+ digital classrooms, which can accommodate more than 15,000 students at a time.
Classrooms are where daily lectures go on. What about international seminars, workshops, and guest lectures that go beyond the confines of classrooms? Students, staff, and faculty have access to multimedia auditoriums, where academic and all other events occur.
Hi-tech labs and library
Next comes the pride of MIT-WPU, the subsea lab dedicated to civil and petroleum engineering students learning about industrial safety, oil processing, and more. They can run simulations at this lab, which has sea-like architecture. So, why is it a massive deal for MIT-WPU to have this on campus? The subsea lab is the first in Asia, while the other two are in the USA. What a great way for students to get equipped at such a research marvel. There are two libraries – the Central and World Peace Library with over one lakh printed books and e-resources.
Medical, sports, and hostel facilities
MIT-WPU has excellent medical facilities 24/7, helping everyone, including students and staff, and everyone is given immediate medical attention in case of emergencies.
MIT-WPU values sports as an essential factor in students' development and owns several indoor and outdoor centres for basketball, football, gymnasium, and more.
There are on and off-campus hostels for boys and girls, which are more than just staying places for students. You have a reading room, game areas, and gym, and you can enjoy various events conducted during Holi, Diwali, Eid, Christmas, and other important festivals.
Research and collaborations
Research is one of the top priorities at MIT-WPU, and the main focuses include energy, bioresources, health science, environment and sustainability, AI, and materials and manufacturing. Apart from these, Ph.D programs are offered across departments like English, Sociology, engineering, and more. More than 1000 research papers have been published, and 72 patents have been granted.
Innovation and technology
Technology Business Incubator
MIT has its non-profit incubation centre, started in 2016, known as the 'Technology Business Incubator,' where startups are bootstrapped, and the centre collects funds to turn innovative ideas from such startups into viable products. Spaced at about 11,000 sq. ft, the centre has state-of-the-art facilities like a 3D printer, CNC machines, and industrial experts to guide the owners on the right path. A few partners include AWS, Villgro, ISBA (Indian Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Parks and Business Incubator Association), IIC (Institution's Innovative Council), and more. It's funded by the Department of Science and Technology, under Govt of India. The centre has 34 active startups currently.
Centre for business innovation and entrepreneurship
You can find three platforms – Connect, Innovation Hub, and Launchpad Speaker Series. Connect is where young minds can talk about business and other things that fascinate them within academia.
Innovation Hub is where students can make their technological and design dreams come true. The university will help you design any project that you are interested in – making it viable and helping you from scratch.
Launchpad Speaker Series brings industrial experts and business owners to speak about their experience at MIT-WPU to inspire future entrepreneurs from the campus.
Industrial partnerships
MIT-WPU believes that students need to know more than what's in their textbooks. Therefore, to improve their performances and understanding of how various industries work in the real world, MIT has partnered with Tata Technologies, IBM, Skoda, NVidia, Glenmark, Mercedes Benz, and Michelin, to name a few. Students are offered internships and are monitored through regular assessments, which translates to job opportunities at these firms.
Academic excellence
To pass, students must appear in formative and summative assessments and semester exams each year. Any student is eligible to earn their degree if they regularly attend, participate in co-curricular activities, and appear for at least one MOOC exam.
Many students can expand their career horizons through the 'Study Abroad' programme. MIT-WPU has signed MOUs with Nottingham Trent University, Deakin University, John Hopkins University, and the Asian Institute of Technology, to name a few.
Placement cell
The team at Placement Cell ensures that almost all our students have a job offer before graduation. To prepare students for interviews, the placement cell organises mock tests, weekend workshops, soft skills training, and more.
