MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) and the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM) joined forces to host a groundbreaking Industry-Academia Conclave on January 31st, 2025. The event, centered on Strategic Envisioning India 2047, brought together over 150 industry professionals and 25 distinguished speakers at Saint Dnyaneshwar Hall, MIT-WPU Kothrud Campus.

The conclave highlighted a critical challenge in today's educational landscape ‘the growing gap between academic learning and industry requirements’. Rishikesh Patankar, VP, of Government Programs, Industry and Academia Collaboration, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), serving as the Chief Guest, emphasised the importance of personalising education through reduced teacher-student ratio to create an industry-ready workforce. He presented two strategic approaches to address the demand-supply gap in industry manpower – a top-down approach involving government and industry initiatives, and a bottom-up approach focusing on personalised education to address skill gaps. MIT-WPU Vice Chancellor Dr. R.M. Chitnis highlighted the essential function of HR professionals in equipping graduating students for upcoming job prospects. In the meantime, Kalyan Pawar of the NIPM Pune Chapter emphasised the importance of experiential learning and valuable internship opportunities.

The event included two captivating panel discussions that explored essential subjects "Industry Academia Interaction: Navigating Through Changing Dynamics" and "Leadership Development for Next Generation: GenZ Talent." These sessions offered an opportunity for industry specialists to convey insights on enhancing education's relevance to the industry and devising methods for fostering young professionals. The conclave was in complete harmony with India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, highlighting the significance of interdisciplinary and skill-based learning. The event encouraged significant discussions between academic and industry leaders via interactive sessions and networking opportunities, emphasising the improvement of employability through practical experience, dual-degree programs, and joint research initiatives.

Notable attendees featured Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Karad (Founder President, MIT-WPU), Prof. Prakash B. Joshi (Founder and Patron, MAEER), Dr. Rahul Karad (Executive President, MIT-WPU), along with various prominent academic and industry figures. The event wrapped up with the felicitation ceremony of HR professionals, succeeded by networking activities and dinner, fostering an environment ideal for establishing enduring connections between industry and academia.

This joint effort represents an important advancement in equipping students for the changing requirements of the international job market while promoting innovation, skill enhancement, and economic development.
