SUBSEA Lab

The Department of Petroleum Engineering has been instrumental in developing a state-of-the-art subsea engineering laboratory at MITWPU Pune. Under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by Aker Solutions, the real-life laboratory aims at training students, industry professionals and carrying out research and consultancy projects. This joint initiative of developing a Center of Excellence (CoE) by Aker Solutions and MITWPU Pune is called Dr. Vishwanath Karad Centre for Subsea Engineering Research (CSER) Aker Solutions has been involved in the design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of the subsea infrastructure in the lab.

For the lab to see the light of the day, MITWPU has provided the required space and related infrastructure. A world-class prototype working system to conduct and demonstrate the deepwater offshore production operations, the CSER represents the entire subsea architecture in a scaled down version from field dimensions. The lab is instrumental in conducting interdisciplinary research work, which would help the next generation students to become industry-ready professionals.
