This requires knowledge & skills especially in the areas of Political management, Constituency development & management, Elections management, International relations, Political processes, Political systems, Political economy, Public Policy, Constitution, Five Tier Structure of Government etc. This program prepares you for careers in Politics.

Program Objectives

MA in Political Leadership and Government (MPG) is a unique program where in first year comprises campus based classroom learning, field visits and study tours. Second year comprises different kinds of internships and attachments. The objective is to offer a blend of classroom teaching & practical exposure enabling young aspirants realize their leadership potential in Politics. It enables

  • To become trained Political Leaders and understand the dynamics of Indian Politics

  • To learn to manage Election Campaign, learn techniques of Constituency Management.

  • To understand Functions of Government – be it Judiciary or Bureaucracy

  • To understand the Ministries, their role & responsibilities, Members of Parliament from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha

  • To know the process of drafting & presenting a Bill in the Parliament / Assembly

  • To understand the process of Budget preparation

  • To understand the role of Planning Commission

Program Highlights

  • Interactive Sessions & Visits by National level leaders from Political parties, Social Sector, Bureaucracy, Media, Judiciary and Corporate

  • Local Field visits to Gram Panchayat, Zilla Parishad, Municipal Corporation, State Assembly, Cooperatives and NGOs.

  • Study Tours for Elections & Campaign Management and Constituency Studies

  • National Study Tour to Delhi to visit and interact at Parliament, Election Commission, Rashtrapati Bhavan, various Ministries, Political party offices and Research Institutions to understand the nuances of politics and governance

  • Internship up to 10 months with the offices of Political parties and Political leaders

  • Training on various leadership styles along with detailed study of many national & international leaders through their biographies, study & analysis of their ideologies either via first hand research by students through various sources or screening of documentaries and audio speeches

  • Sessions on Oratory skills and Media skills
