School of Petroleum Engineering – M.Tech
The M.Tech. Petroleum engineering course has been developed in close collaboration with the industry. The M.Tech program aims at equipping the graduates, with advanced conceptual knowledge, technical skills and an ability to pursue research in the field of Petroleum Engineering. Apart from the core courses, the student may choose electives depending on his/her interests. The structure and syllabus contents are categorized as Engineering Core, Departmental Core, Departmental Electives, Humanities and World Peace Program, Self-Study and Online Learning. It has been ensured that electives are relevant to oil and gas and the student develops pre-requisite skills for an upstream engineering career.
The academic engineering studies are constantly associated and continuously advanced with practical industry practices with the help of knowledge and skills of teaching staff, visiting lecturers, industry specialists and close industry association of university, providing access to outstanding research and teaching.
MIT-WPU Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Student Chapter organizes “Annual Industry Institute Interaction Program (AIIIP)” which provides opportunity for the students to showcase their talent and skills to the industry professionals through various activities and competitions and increase industry network, enhance their understanding and upgrade their skills for employment opportunities to cater to the need of energy industry.

The M. Tech Petroleum Engineering is a two years full-time study program of Trimester Pattern with total of six terms. The program offers specialized tracks including –

- Data Analytics
In addition to in-depth academics, the school of Petroleum Engineering focusses on Learning beyond classroom.
The post-graduate students are encouraged to undertake internships in industry of their choice. Also, for their final dissertation, they work on a live project in the industry, which adds value to their research. The projects are supported by the industry.
A month long technical activities are organized as a part of MIT-WPU SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) Annual Industry Institute Interaction Program (AIIIP). This program provides an opportunity for the students to showcase their talent and skills to the industry professionals through various competitions and activities. This includes SPE International Young Professionals workshops, case studies related to different disciplines of Petroleum Engineering, model making, paper and poster presentation and panel discussion, where industry experts share their experiences with the students.
