Today is the international Day for Peace. Being such a central part of MIT’s ideology and that of MIT- World Peace University, there was a novel way by which the International Peace Day was celebrated by the faculty and students of MIT, namely a ‘Run for Peace’!

Organized by the various Schools operating under MIT, and due to the tireless work of the numerous volunteers, the race was scheduled to start at the Gandhi Smarak Bhavan and at Karve Putla while the end point of both races was the MIT, Kothrud Campus. The race began at 0630 hrs after distribution of Glucose biscuits. It was over for the contestants by around 0900 to 0930 hrs.

Then there was an event organized at MIT, Kothrud with the guests of honor being Dr Datar (owner of Surya Gym and who has written several books on fitness) and Mr Rajendra Kumbhare (Prabhari, Patanjali Yoga Samiti) with the introduction and foreword provided by our own registrar Grp. Capt. D P Apte. The students were then shown a skit performed by the MIT troupe depicting the themes of peace. Finally, the message of peace and the UN General Secretary’s message for today were read by the HOD of the Peace Faculty Mr Patre who felicitated the guests as well. A great end to an excellent race indeed!
