Eminent Scientist Padma Vibhushan Dr R.A. Mashelkar felicitated on his 75th birthday Conferred with Saint Dnyaneshwar MauliGyan Vigyan Bramharishi Award Seven top universities from Pune jointly organised the felicitation

“The education system in India needs a convex lens leadership to better education standards in India and you all coming together to felicitate me is a good beginning. It is not the power of budget that matters, it is the power of idea. India doesn’t have 1.25 crore people, India has 1.25 crore brains. There should be no limit for imagination.” said renowned scientist and Padma Vibhushan Dr Raghunath A. Mashelkar while addressing a gathering to felicitate him on his 75th birthday with the Saint Dnyaneshwar MauliGyan Vigyan Bramharishi Award at the historic Shaniwar Wada today. In these 75 years of my life, I have seen 25375 mornings and I feel todays is the best one ever, he added responding to the felicitation. For the first time in the history of Pune, seven top universities came together on one platform to celebrate Dr Mashelkar’s birthday. They include MIT World Peace University, MIT ADT University, Symbiosis Deemed University, Padmashree Dr D Y Patil University, BharatiVidyapeeth Deemed University, Vishwarkarma University and India International Multiversity. Over 4000 people, including students from all the universities were present at the occasion. “Without my mother I could not have achieved this much in my life, not because she has given me birth, but for all the hardships she has done for me. The society should not demonize failure. The word FAIL stands for First Attempt In Learning,” said Dr Mashelkar in a special message to students. He added that Lal Bahadur Shastriji had given a slogan of ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’. Atal Bihari Vajpayee added ‘Jai Vigyan’ to it. The decision of felicitating a scientist truly indicates that the country is moving towards ‘Jai Vigyan’. The biggest challenges that the world is facing today are climate change and inequality. We in India must put our efforts together to address these challenges and for that we have superior brains in the country, said Dr Mashelkar. On the work that his Anjani Mashelkar Foundation is doing, Dr Mashelkar said the foundation is mentoring and incubating innovative startups which aim to create a social impact and is supporting innovations made by young scientists. “By incubating and supporting these innovative startups we can create not just one Dr Mashelkar but can have thousands of them. Innovations must not be hindered because of budget problems,” he added. Among those present at the felicitation function included, Prof Dr Vishwanath D Karad, President and Rahul V Karad, Executive President of MIT World Peace University, Dr Sunil Rai, Vice Chancellor of MIT ADT University, S B Mujumdar, Chancellor of Symbiosis University, VidyaYeravdekar, Principal Director, Symbiosis Society, Shivajirao Kadam, Vice Chancellor and Abhijit Kadam, Secretary of BharatiVidyapeeth Deemed University and Vijay Bhatkar, Chief Mentor of the India International Multiversity.
