The induction program for the Faculty of Commerce & Economics and School of Law began in earnest on the 4th of August, 2018 at 1030 hrs with the arrival of all the guests and students following which flowers were lain out in front of the Sant Dynaneshwara statute. The guests were then served refreshments while the Chief guest arrived by 1115 hrs.

After the world peace prayer was sung there was a warm welcome address made by Prof Dr Mahesh Abale to welcome all the students and guests for the momentous occasion. After that everyone was treated to films about the 8th Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad and the World Peace University as it is envisioned. They were very well received. After that the eminent guests were felicitated and the traditional lighting of the lamp occurred.

By 1150 hrs Dr Srihari Honwad (Provost, MIT-WPU) gave an address detailing what the students ought to expect. Prof Dr I K Bhat (Vice chancellor, MIT-WPU) gave another welcome speech to all assembled students and guests. After that everyone was treated to a film about the World’s largest dome and Peace Library being constructed under the aegis of the MAEER’s group. Applause greeted the end of the film.

At 1210 Prof Dr Vishwanath Karad (Founder President, MIT-WPU) graced the dais and gave a brilliant 10-minute speech extolling the virtues of hard work and peace and the need to make our parents and nation proud of our accomplishments. Then a short film was screened, showing the life and accomplishments of the Chief guest of the ceremony, Dr Deepak Shikrapur (National IT board member, AICTE)

It was the Chief guest’s turn to speak and he did not let the audience down. He gave a pragmatic speech detailing what the students ought to expect and how they could improve upon themselves while studying in this chapter of their lives. The applause his speech received was heartfelt. After that, the academic planner was unveiled. Then a film showcasing the life and accomplishments of Justice P B Sawant (Former Judge, Supreme Court of India) was aired. After that Justice P B Sawant gave an impassioned speech to the assembled youth, informing them more of their duties towards the nation and their families. You could feel everyone’s resolve strengthen after his speech. Grp Capt D P Apte (Registrar, MIT-WPU) gave a vote of thanks. After that there was a Pasayadan and the program concluded with the VIP’s heading out for a well-deserved lunch by around 1300 hrs.
