The introductory session for the first batch of engineering students enrolled in MIT-WPU began today that is 4th July 2018, at 0930 hours! Hundreds of students and their parents turned up for the induction program. The students looked excited and were eager to begin the next phase in their lives.

The students were grasping at everything going around them, and there was a lot of positive energy being emanated by them. The ceremony began in earnest with a viewing of motivational videos for the students. It detailed what they are to expect in this phase of their life, and how they have the power to dictate the course of their existence. In the meantime, the dignitaries had all assembled and on cue, the World Peace Prayer was heard at 1030. Students heard for the first time the magic mantra that resonated throughout the MIT campus twice a day!

After the peace prayer, the present dignitaries were felicitated and the traditional lamp was lit, to emphasize on the bright future for all the present students of MIT-WPU. Dr Suhasini Desai gave a detailed, but specific introduction of the B. Tech program as it operates now under the World Peace University. Vice chancellor, MIT-WPU, Prof. Dr. I. K. Bhat elaborated on the uniqueness of our famed WPU teaching method which incorporates experiential learning, extensive student support and excellent infrastructure to bring out the best in any student and create the best professionals.

Shri Rajendra Kembhavi, BHR head for Tech Mahindra made the students understand the need for qualified engineers in the world today after which Shri Ramchandra Rao, the Managing director of Indo Schottle Auto Parts made the students understand the value of a good education while stressing on the need for well qualified and motivated professionals.

Mr. Rahul Karad, Executive President, MIT-WPU,  enthralled the students and the parents about what to expect in the coming years and how they should avail all the opportunities MIT-WPU will provide them with. Prof. Sharadchandra Darade Patil, Dean MAEER’s MIT group of institutions, and Prof P B Joshi, MAEER Joint Managing trustee, conveyed their warm welcome to the students and wished them all the best for the journey they have begun with MIT-WPU.

Prof Dr V D Karad wished the students the best for their time here. Dr Karad detailed the journey of MIT to the enrapt students while stressing the symbiotic role between the faculty and the students in making MIT, Pune what it is today. He also advised the students to look towards nation building by incorporating the message and tenets of peace in their daily lives and routine. He made them understand that the whole world awaits another revolution, and that he hopes it to begin with the assembled students of the first batch of MIT-WPU!

The Chief Guest for the ceremony, Dr D P Agarwal, former chairman of UPSC, informed the people present of the need for world class, intelligent and professional Indians who would take our country to greater heights. He stressed on the value and importance of education along with the virtues of honesty and hard work. The applause he received after was genuine and heartfelt!

Finally the ceremony closed with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Dr. R V Pujeri, followed by instructions to the students and finally, the National Anthem. The students exited the auditorium with renewed vigour and were eager to begin their Academic Induction which will happen over the 5th and 6th of July.
