For the launch of the three courses of Faculty of Fine Arts, Media and Photography, an induction Programme was held in the Dnyaneshwar Hall of MIT-WPU, Pune on 24th of July 2018. It marked the presence of eminent personalities like Hon. Arti Kirloskar, Hon. Mayank Shekhar, Hon. Amlendu Chowdhary and Hon. Shilpa Gode . The event began with the lightening of the lamp by the guests and by reciting the World Peace Prayer.

Prof. Dr. Shrihari Honwad, Provost (MITWPU) taught the students the importance of being an artist and a culturist and quoted that, Art and Culture defines the maturity of a society.

Prof. (Gp. Capt.) D. P. Apte, Registrar (MITWPU) shared the experience of MITWPU group of institutions having only one engineering college in the year 1983 while now it is entering the world of Arts.

Ms. Shilpa Gode, Advisor (Fine Arts) happily said that,  Many great artists have made great monuments and one such example is MIT-WPU. Fine Arts has now become an integral part of such an institution.

Hon. Arti Kirloskar, Painter and Noted Philanthropist threw light upon art and its culture in India by stating that, Hope is oriented through art and education. India is an artistic country rooted with culture. I am thoroughly fascinated by the wall paintings of Ajanta and Ellora caves. This shows that art in India is widely communicated with visuals. I deeply feel that one needs to take art beyond any language, spirituality, politics and should consider art as a work of intelligence.

Hon. Mayank Shekhar, Film Critic and Journalist, ardently greeted the students and told them that, In the field of Mass Media a teacher learns from its students and the students learn from their teachers. Mass Media was immensely different ten years ago and I am sure that it will drastically change in the next ten years. Latest research also states that 65% of children will take up the jobs that have not been invented yet! A mass media student should learn new things and enjoy the media world as it will be a life changing experience.

Hon. Amlendu Chowdhary, Cinematographer, motivated the students by expressing that, Even a most successful persons life is incomplete without art. Awareness of oneself should be the most important part of education and thus you should be aware of what actually interests you. Children should keep in mind that Light is one important aspect of photography eventually light is also a source of life and thus appreciate its art as light is freedom as well as knowledge.

Vote of Thanks was given by Mr. Makarand Malawe, Director (School of Media and Fine Arts). The event was concluded with National Anthem. The programme was arranged by MIT-WPU (Faculty of Fine Arts, Media and Photography) staff and the students.
