Significance of our Logo
The components of MIT World Peace University Logo denote the far reaching vision of its Founders who endeavor to drive the change which the world wishes simply through ‘Spreading & Practicing Peace’.
The tag line below the Logo ‘ Vishwashantipurvam dhruvam’ means, ‘Let the peace prevail across the longitude and latitude of this World’.
The dome is an integral part of every design architecture at MIT WPU campus and has a spiritual connect with the oldest religious buildings of the world, who have a central dome structure. One who sits under such a dome and chants the magical ‘Om’ mantra gains from a transcendental experience of ultimate peace, tranquility and positive vibrations.
The lines on the dome are open cuts with no color fill, signifying a culture of openness and transparency that pervades a peace loving community.
The Blue color of the top part of logo signifies the limitless potential we humans imbibe in our being just like the limitless sky.
The text in solid Brick color at the bottom denotes the ‘Brick’ which is the solid foundation of our vision of attaining ‘World Peace’ through our University.

Mashelkar while addressing a gathering to felicitate him on his 75th birthday with the Saint Dnyaneshwar MauliGyan Vigyan Bramharishi Award at the historic Shaniwar Wada today. In these 75 years of my life, I have seen 25375 mornings and I feel todays is the best one ever, he added responding to the felicitation.
For the first time in the history of Pune, seven top universities came together on one platform to celebrate Dr Mashelkar’s birthday. They include MIT World Peace University, MIT ADT University, Symbiosis Deemed University, Padmashree Dr D Y Patil University, BharatiVidyapeeth Deemed University, Vishwarkarma University and India International Multiversity. Over 4000 people, including students from all the universities were present at the occasion.
“Without my mother I could not have achieved this much in my life, not because she has given me birth, but for all the hardships she has done for me. The society should not demonize failure. The word FAIL stands for First Attempt In Learning,” said Dr Mashelkar in a special message to students. He added that Lal Bahadur Shastriji had given a slogan of ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’. Atal Bihari Vajpayee added ‘Jai Vigyan’ to it. The decision of felicitating a scientist truly indicates that the country is moving towards ‘Jai Vigyan’.
The biggest challenges that the world is facing today are climate change and inequality. We in India must put our efforts together to address these challenges and for that we have superior brains in the country, said Dr Mashelkar.
On the work that his Anjani Mashelkar Foundation is doing, Dr Mashelkar said the foundation is mentoring and incubating innovative startups which aim to create a social impact and is supporting innovations made by young scientists. “By incubating and supporting these innovative startups we can create not just one Dr Mashelkar but can have thousands of them. Innovations must not be hindered because of budget problems,” he added.
Among those present at the felicitation function included, Prof Dr Vishwanath D Karad, President and Rahul V Karad, Executive President of MIT World Peace University, Dr Sunil Rai, Vice Chancellor of MIT ADT University, S B Mujumdar, Chancellor of Symbiosis University, VidyaYeravdekar, Principal Director, Symbiosis Society, Shivajirao Kadam, Vice Chancellor and Abhijit Kadam, Secretary of BharatiVidyapeeth Deemed University and Vijay Bhatkar, Chief Mentor of the India International Multiversity.
Saint Dnyaneshwar MauliGyan Vigyan Bramharishi Award comprised a Golden Replica of Saint Dnyaneshwar, a gold medal and cash of Rupees 1.25 Lakh.
Prof Dr Vishwanath Karad, in his address, said that some people are born to lead and Dr Mashelkar is one of them. “When we talk about India becoming a Vishwa Guru, I see people like Dr. Mashelkar in the driving seat for this journey. He walks with an idea of making all the pilgrimage centres of India the knowledge centres of India,” said Dr Karad.
Dr. S. B. Mujumdar said, “Shaniwar Wada has seen many politicians, celebrities, sportsman being felicitated. But this is the first time Shaniwar Wada might be witnessing a felicitation of a scientist and a professor. Today’s youth have a lot to learn from Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar’s humble and positive character. If we have to list the top 10 people from Pune, Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar stands first. For me, he is the Brand Ambassador of Pune.”
Dr. Vijay Bhatkar said, “He has been a friend, philosopher and a guide to me. He has transformed my life completely. Indian Science and Technology field has seen a paradigm shift after Dr. Mashelkar joined this field. The way he has transformed CSIR and NCL is remarkable.”
Dr.Shivajirao Kadam said, “Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar is not only loved by Maharashtra only but is celebrated worldwide. The main driving force behind this personality is his pure love for the country. He has made tremendous contributions to the country in the field of Science and Education.”
Prof. Rahul Karad said, “Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar has contributed a lot to the education sector of India and has been associated with the top education institutes of India and the world. The life journey of Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar sir has to be celebrated thoroughly by Indians and his contribution reach every generations.”
Dr.Vishwajeet Kadam said, “The life journey of Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar sir is an inspiration to millions. Whichever institute he visits, he makes sure that he has given the success mantra to the students. He has been a guide for most of the educational institutes in Pune and has played a major role in shaping them.”

MIT-WPU hosts Faculty Development Program in Association with CSI & SPPU under QIP
MIT-WPU Faculty of Engineering – Dept. of Computer Engineering conducted Faculty Development Programme on Design and Analysis of Algorithms for 1 Week starting 18th Dec 2017, in association with CSI & SPPU under QIP.
Development programme is intended to provide opportunity for teachers employed in AICTE approved institutions for teaching and upgrading their knowledge in the area of Design and Analysis of Algorithms. Courses are designed to understand and solve real life problems along with serving the needs of the industry. The FDP, “Design and Analysis of Algorithms” is designed to learn SPPU syllabus is a blend of concepts and advances using high end FOSS technologies. This faculty and understand the fundamentals and comprehensive research aspects of Algorithms.
The FDP programme created an awareness in participants for the need & applications of the subject offering them a 360 degree view of its applicability. The participants were also introduced to modern teaching aids, interactive sessions and quizzes that provide innovative practical sessions with research aspect for problem solving.
The FDP programme was well designed factoring suggestions from the leadership at MIT-WPU Computer Engineering Department and their eminent Advisory Board comprising National & International level Academicians. The sessions were addressed by knowledgeable Speakers who are stalwarts from Industry and Academia like- IIT-Allahabad, IBM, Harbinger and Pune University.
The FDP programme proved to be an enriching experience for all participating Professors as it covered topics like- Fundamentals of Algorithms , Framework for Algorithm Analysis, Divide and Conquer Strategy, Dynamic Programming, Greedy Strategy, Complexity Theory, Backtracking Technique, Branch and Bound, Approximation Algorithms, Innovative Teaching Methodologies for design and analysis of Algorithms, Hands-on Sessions on above topics with mini project implementation,and Everyday quiz based online assessments using Moodle.

MIT World Peace University Hosts ‘Savitribai Phule Pune University’s Principal’s Forum’
MIT-WPU and SavitribaiPhule Pune University Principal Federation, jointly organised one day workshop on “NAAC process under revised format of SSR/RAR” on Saturday, 16th December 2017 at MITWPU Campus. Principals and NAAC Coordinators were invited to attend the workshop. More than 400 people have participated in the workshop.
Hon. Dr. Ganesh Hegde, Deputy Advisor, NAAC as an expert and resource person explained various changes in the revised format of NAAC with effect from 1st July 2017. Dr.Hegde gave a detailed presentation on NAAC followed by interactive session.
Hon. Dr. Nitin Karmalkar, Vice Chancellor, SavitribaiPhule Pune University presided the workshop as a Chief Guest. Hon. Dr. N.S. Umrani, Pro Vice Chancellor, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Dr. Dhanraj Mane, Director, Higher Education Dept. Maharashtra State, Shri. Siddharth Kharat, Joint Secretary, Maharashtra State, Shri. MIT-WPU’s Commerce Department conducted Workshop on “Soft Skill “in association with Carpe – Diem 2k17 “(IIM Calcutta)
Nov 28, 2017- Pune-MIT-WPU’s Commerce Department had organized a two day Workshop on “Soft Skills “in association with Carpe – Diem 2k17 “(IIM Calcutta Event).
Keeping the changing scenario of the corporate world in mind and to cope with it, the Commerce Dept. of the Faculty of LASC had provided its student a vast platform named “Carpe – Diem 2k17 “(IIM Calcutta Event) which was held on 28th – 29th November, 2017. It was a 12 hours’ workshop.
In these two days’ workshop Ms. Swagata, Mentor had delivered all the sessions. The sessions included an introductory session, debates on the current issues, group discussions, and many more.
Entrepreneurs are not made in a day. It is a blend of skills, perfect attitude and day by day practice. And so, students were also thought to make a business plan, team building, cooperation, coordination and were given a gist of the vast cooperative world which they will be facing in their near future.
The Associate Dean of the commerce department, MIT LASC program Dr. Mahesh Abale had organized this cultivated workshop for the students. Students had participated in great number and enthusiasm in this session.
All the students were provided with the certificate from CarpeDiem (IIM Calcutta event) .So this workshop had definitely boastedthe students to come out with flying colors.

Felicitation Ceremony of newly elected ‘Sarpanchs’ of Pune’s District Council at MIT-WPU
On 19 Nov.17’,Pune . Newly directly elected ‘ Sarpanchs’ of ‘ Zilla Parishad ’(ZP) Of Pune 2017 were felicitated in a combined initiative by MIT-World Peace University, Pune & District council of Pune.This programme was organized for introduction of ‘Rural Immersion Programme’ for induction & co habitance of 4000 students in families from 100 villages for socio economic study & to work towards empowerment of farmers & to have a ‘Rural Connect’. Dr. Budhajirao Mulik – renowned agriculture scientist, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Event was presided by Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, Founding President Of MAEER & MIT WPU , Mr. Rahul V. Karad,Executive President of MIT WPU, Add. CEO of Pune District council Mr. Yashwant Shitole, Deputy CEO of Village Panchayat ,Mr. Sandeep Kohinkar, Mr. Yogesh Patil,Chairman of ’Gram Samruddhi Foundation’, Mr. Narendra Pawar of ‘Swami Samarth Shetkari Utpadak Company’,Kamla Sawant, Sabhapati of Ahemadnagar–Zilla Parishad & Mr. Atul Koirala,an entrepreneur & youth leader from Nepal also graced the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Dr. Budhajirao Mulik stressed that without education, sustained agricultural growth is not possible.He urged the university to guide students to take up the initiative of creating awareness among farmers .Founder of MIT WPU Dr.Karad in his address said that MIT-WPU is committed & taking initiatives to realize Mahatma Gandhi’s Dream India by adapting programmes like ‘Rural Immersion’ for the students & is committed for rural development & empowerment of farmers.
Various points which came up during the presentation by eminent speakers included overall infrastructural growth, technological advancement, women& farmers empowerment diversified agriculture, that will surely improve the growth at the grass root level.

Yoga Session by Faculty of Liberal Arts, Science & Commerce- MIT-WPU
27 July, 2017, Pune- The first session of Yoga by Liberal Arts, Science & Commerce at the newly formed MIT-World Peace University was conducted on July 27th, Thursday at Chandralok Canteen.
Dr. Rasika Divakar, a yoga instructor, consultant physician and Pranic healing instructor and Vijay Khanke, Head-Pranic Healing Centre, Pune conducted the yoga and meditation sessions for students and faculty.
Students of B.A. General and Honors, B.A. Mass Media, Masters of Journalism & Mass Communication, M.Sc. Computer Science, B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Com and M.Com attended the yoga session held in two slots from 7.30 A.M. to 9 A.M.
Prof. Dr. Jay Gore, Principal Transformation Advisor, MIT-World Peace University welcomed and felicitated instructors. In his speech he motivated students to continue this yoga activity regularly in their life and also to balance their academics.
Prof. Dr. Sudhir Gavhane, Dean- Faculty of Liberal Arts, Science & Commerce felicitated Dr. Rasika Divakar while Prof. Dr. Madhuri Kulkarni, Associate Dean, felicitated Vijay Khanke.
Starting with MIT prayer, the first session of Yoga kicked off with basic Asanas and warm-up sessions. Students enjoyed the exercises and were also enthusiastic about the first session.
The Meditation session conducted by Vijay Khanke initially discussed the importance of meditation for a healthy body and soul through power-point presentation. He discussed with students about various Chakras and how one can bring in positive energy to their body by meditation. The soothing musical meditation was enjoyed by students as it helped them to start their day in a positive way.
