Meet the Dean

Prof. (Dr.) Anuradha Parasar brings more than 25 years of teaching and academic administration experience to her role as Dean, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Fine Arts, Media & Journalism. As an academician and academic administrator with Sociology, Anthropology, Management, Law and Science background she had developed an integrated and interdisciplinary curriculum at Management, Engineering, Law, Social Sciences and Science Institutes. Dr. Parasar has extensive experience as Director, Deputy Director / Deputy Registrar (Planning & Development), In-Charge – Examination Cell, Head of Student Support System, Coordinator / Chairman of committees of various academic organizations. In her leadership role, she has pioneered in the development of a strategic plan for resource development, academic administration & curriculum development. Another prime role played at a various organization is policy and rules documentation through Handbooks along with ensuring statutory compliances. Dr. Parasar also brings along the rich experience of national and international Open and Distance Education organizations. Between 2010 and 2016 along with her students Dr. Parasar has successfully led various campaign and movements creating awareness about various Social issues.

Dr. Parasar is Commonwealth Academic Fellow. She is having a unique interdisciplinary and scholarly background. She is Ph.D., M.Sc. Anthropology (Gold Medallion), M.A. Sociology (VIII Rank in Merit), PGDHRM (Distinction), LLB, B.A. (Addl.) Sociology & B.Sc.

Dr. Parasar likes experimenting integration of technology tools as part of pedagogy. As a multi-perspective person, she takes a keen interest in promoting yoga, Indian traditional medicine system – Ayurveda, spiritualism, social welfare planning, and management. She likes participating in programmes relating to Community Connect, Nature Connect, Rural Connect, and Tribal Connect.

B.A. Mass Media

The School of Media and Journalism provides full-time thoroughly developed programme incorporating lively theoretical lectures, hands-on practical sessions, tutorials, classroom presentations and industry driven assignments. Furthermore, field trips, rural immersion programmes, national and international study tours and projects help to add to the depth of learning. Foundation, core, electives and unique courses related to world peace along with real life research projects, are part of the undergraduate programme curriculum. Adequate emphasis is laid upon co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
The school of media also aims to provide an overall view of the media industry and helps students to understand the dynamics of the industry. MIT-WPU provides the world’s most advanced and uniquely defined opportunity based professional education.

Our programme structure imbibes an interdisciplinary approach. Blending of current trends with fundamental knowledge base in Mass Media is the basic objective. According to the structure and syllabi the contents are categorized as:

1. Maharashtra State (MS) Candidature

    • Candidate should be an Indian Nationality

    • Passed 10+2 / 12th / HSC Examination with English subject
      (OR)
      Three Years Engineering Diploma Recognized by Government Competent Authority
      (OR)
      Passed its equivalent examination with 40% Marks in aggregate (35% in case of candidates of backward class categories and Persons with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only)

2. Other Than Maharashtra (OMS) Candidature

    • Candidate should be an Indian Nationality.

    • Passed 10+2 / 12th / HSC Examination with English subject
      (OR)
      Three Years Engineering Diploma Recognized by Government Competent Authority
      (OR)
      Passed its equivalent examination with 40% Marks in aggregate.

3. Foreign Nation / NRI / OCI / PIO, Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries:

      • Passed 10+2 / 12th / HSC Examination with English subject
        (OR)
        its equivalent examination in any stream with 40% marks in aggregate

Selection Criteria

    • Step A: Common entrance exam for UGPET

    • Step B: Interview

    • Admission on merit basis

    • Reservations as per the norms laid down by the government of Maharashtra for the year 2019-20.

Department Infrastructure

The University offers state-of-the-art infrastructure with air-conditioned rooms which are ICT enabled for seamless learning of students. Hostel facilities will be made available for students on payment basis within 1 and 1.5 km. radius of the campus.

The classrooms of LASC are spacious, student-centric having maximum capacity of 120 students.

TV Studio


The School of Media and Journalism has a fully equipped TV studio with all the necessary equipment like teleprompter, camera, lights and editing bay to provide hands-on training to students.

Computer Lab


The college houses centrally air-conditioned computer laboratories with 162 branded dual core desktops networked with two servers.
In addition to these, the e-campus at MIT World Peace University, Pune, with approximately more than 1000 computers are directly linked to the college network with a dedicated high-speed lease line internet connection with a bandwidth of 350 MBPS.
Centralized printer facility is provided for students. There is a facility for online teaching and practice. The college has four servers loaded with various software like Oracle, Visual Studio.NET, Advanced Java, Mat Lab, Asp.NET, Page Maker, Corel Draw, Red Hat Linux which are accessible from all desktops. Qualified lab staff is available to guide the students.

Library Forum


The library forum has been established under MIT Group of Institutions. The idea behind this is to share electronic resources to sister institutions, conduct seminars, conferences, workshops, FDP’s, etc. under the forum. Under this various electronic resources have been purchased which include electronic journals/books databases and electronic journals back issues archives. Faculty members, students, and researchers are now able to take the benefit of IEEE, Springer, Science Direct, EBSCO, Prowess, J-Gate, N-List and the database of the likes.
The college library started a new activity through web services. The library has started its own blog to share recent and updated information. The aim of this blog is to share and exchange of recent information and keep updated to students as well as faculty members and also library has started to share the information through social networking website i.e. facebook. This venture has received a great response.

Gym


A fully equipped gym with well-qualified and friendly staff are available in the campus.

Special Batches for Girl Students and Staff Members.

Cafeteria


A full-fledged cafeteria is available at MIT World Peace University campus where wholesome snacks, lunch and dinner are served. A cafeteria is provided for students within the college where tea, coffee, snacks, soft drinks are available through the day. A good mix of popular vegetarian multi-cuisine spread is available such as Maharashtrian, Punjabi, South Indian, and Chinese amongst others.
