Professor & Dean - School of Health Science & Technology

Dr. Neeraj Mahindroo, serving as the Dean of the School of Pharmacy at MIT-WPU, brings over twenty-five years of rich experience in academics and research, particularly in the field of Medicinal Chemistry.

Dr. Mahindroo’s expertise extends to successfully securing research grants and fellowships through international competitive evaluation processes. Notably, he is a recipient of the National Health Research Institutes Postdoctoral Fellowship and St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Dr. Mahindroo has a remarkable track record as a Founder and Dean of the School of Health Sciences at UPES, Dehradun. In this capacity, he established a cutting-edge academic and research facility, assembling a team with extensive experience from top academic and research institutes. He introduced an innovative curriculum focusing on technical and life skills, critical thinking, problem-solving, and design thinking.

His leadership roles also include serving as Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Dean of Research and Development at Shoolini University. Dr. Mahindroo has been an integral member of various university committees, including the Academic Council and Board of Management, steering the research policy and productivity of MIT-WPU, now ranked among the top research universities in India.

Under his leadership, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences consistently ranked in the top 40 for four consecutive years (2016 (19), 2017(39), 2018 (30), 2019 (39)) by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Ministry of HRD, Government of India. He has also played a key role in PCI and AICTE filings and inspections.

Dr. Mahindroo's current research interests lie in drug discovery for neglected diseases, neurological disorders, and cancer. He has successfully guided Ph.D. and M.Pharmacy students, published 40 papers with more than 1700 citations (H-index = 22), and holds five granted patents and ten patent applications.

As a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters and the Board of Advisors at medinfosys.org, Dr. Mahindroo continues to contribute to the field. His research has received funding from prestigious organizations such as ICMR, DBT, DRDO, HP Biodiversity Board, and Shoolini University. Additionally, he is a Member of the CII National Committee on R&D & Innovation for the year 2020-21, actively participating in the subgroup on Healthcare & Chemicals.
