Dr. Murthy Siva Satya Srinivasa Chavali Yadav

Prof. Dr. Techn. Murthy Chavali, is Dean of Research at MIT-WPU. He was a distinguished Professor of Analytical Chemistry & Nanotechnology, was the Dean (Research) and Professor (Chemistry) at Alliance University, Bengaluru, India. He brings a wealth of experience with over thirty years in extensive research and twenty-three years in teaching. Prior to this, he held key positions as the Ex-Director (109 NANO, India), Director (NTRC‐MCETRC, India), and International Nanotech Research Consultant.

Prof. Dr. Chavali holds a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry (1990, ANU, India), an M.Sc. (Tech.) degree in Chemistry (1994, JNTUH, India), and a Ph.D. in Tech., in Analytical Chemistry (2000, TUWIEN, Austria). His expertise has been further honed through post-doctoral fellowships in the USA, Japan (as JSPS and VBL Fellow), and Taiwan (NSC Fellow).

Prof. Dr. Techn. Murthy Chavali’s contributions have been recognised with several research felicitations, awards, fellowships, and commendations both nationally and internationally. Notably, he has been listed among the World's Top 2% Scientists for the years 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 by Stanford University and Elsevier. His global recognition extends to being a Visiting Professor, Researcher, Scientist, and Fellow at 14 Universities and Institutes abroad. Dr. Chavali has also received over 78 International Travel Grants, showcasing his active involvement in international research collaborations and knowledge exchange.

Prof. Dr. Chavali has made substantial contributions to the academic and research community, boasting an impressive publication record. He has authored over 1350 journals and papers presented at various international and national research platforms. This includes 420 articles/communiqués published in reputed peer-reviewed journals, along with participation in over 270 seminars, symposia, conferences, and workshops. He has authored over 195 technical reports and 145 books/book chapters. His impact is evident in his h-index of 48 and an i10 index of 157, highlighting the influence and citation of his work in the academic community. Furthermore, his collaborative efforts have contributed to 12 patents, showcasing his involvement in innovative research. Beyond academia, he is actively involved in nurturing entrepreneurship, being responsible for 7 student start-ups. These ventures focus on diverse areas, including the conversion of waste to products, novel product design and development, and the utilisation of waste materials, demonstrating his commitment to sustainable and impactful projects.

Prof. Dr. Chavali’s primary research interests include optical waveguide technology, IR sensors, LIF, chip-based chemical and biochemical sensors (µ, η), development and application of spectroscopic techniques for the study of nanomaterials. He also focuses on the synthesis and fabrication of various organic, inorganic nanostructured materials, composites and nanosensor array technology, broadly, nanotechnology applications for gas and liquid sensors and nanobionics (plant, fungal, microbial), nano-innovations, nano-forensics, biodiesels, biofuels, biohydrogen, marine enzymes, algae biomass, fuel cells, biofuel cells, microbial fuel cells, bioeconomy, sustainability, gasification, algae‐based solid waste management, algal nanotechnology, sustainability science and engineering, nanocellulose, and diatoms.
