Dr. S. J. Naik is presently working as an Associate Professor and Head of School of Petroleum Engineering at Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University, Pune, Maharashtra, India. He has a wide teaching experience of 27 years and for 3 years (1999-2001) he was associated with various assets and research Institutes of ONGC as an ONGC research Fellow. His research interest is: Artificial lift techniques, horizontal well technology, heavy oil recovery and production optimization.

Currently, he is teaching Artificial Lifting Techniques, Surface and Subsurface Production Operations and related courses. Dr. Naik has completed three research projects including one of ONGC and two of SPPU, Pune and guided many number of graduate and postgraduate studens in their research projects. He has authored total 8 research papers in the National Journals and Conferences. He is the recipient of prestigious, ‘K. D. MALAVIYA MEMORIAL NATIONAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP’, awarded by, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd., Dehradun in 1999 and Foundation Day award of MAEERs Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune, in 2010. He was Steering Committee Member of SPE, Applied Technology Workshop on Artificial Lift Technology, held in Ahmedabad in 2009. He was member BOS in Petroleum Engineering at SPPU and is a member BOS in Petroleum Engineering at MITWPU. He has conducted and imparted professional training programmes or technical sessions on drilling and production engineering. He has attended number of field visits and represented petroleum academia in national or international workshops/ conferences. He has also conducted technical sessions for ONGC officials on behalf of ONGC Chair, Petroleum Department, MITWPU, Pune.
