Dr. Arti Khaparde, recipient of Citation of Honour for Ideal Teacher award from World Peace Centre (Alandi) MAEER’S MIT, Pune, on 5th September, 2014, was graduated in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Amravati University in 1999 then received M. Tech in Electronics from VNIT, Nagpur University and Doctor of Philosophy in the faculty of Electronics and Communication Engineering from JNTU, Hyderabad, in 2004 and 2009, respectively.

Her Research work got referred by a group of students of Dartmouth Computer Science Department, Sudik off Lab: HB 6211, Hanover, NH 03755, USA. She is working with Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune as Coordinator for M.E and Ph.D Center (Electronics). She is also working as an Expert of Electronics and Telecommunication for Union Public Service Commission, New Delhi. Prior to this, she has held various positions like Principal, Academic Dean, Professor at JNTU affiliated Colleges.

Dr. Arti Khaparde has 18 years of experience in teaching and research in the field of Digital Signal Processing, Digital Image and Video Processing and Machine learning. She has authored more than forty two research papers in the international and national level reputed journals and reviewed conference proceedings and three book chapters in the field of Image Processing and Machine Learning. She has published two patents on algorithm development and its application to image processing.

Dr. Khaparde is a recipient of travel grant for Young Scientists, from BCUD, Savitribai Phule Pune University Pune. She is a mentor for a Project sanctioned Under Young Woman Research Scientist, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India for pursuing research in the field of Biomedical Application. She has also received research grant from Savitribai Phule Pune University for research in the field of Depth estimation from Stereo Images.

She has undertaken visits to various Universities/organizations in Italy, Spain, France, Singapore, New Zealand, Japan, Thailand and Turkey for research collaborations and Conferences. Her team is a recipient of two best paper awards at the conferences held at Paris, France and Venice, Italy respectively. Under Dr. Arti Khaparde’s supervision, two students have completed their PhD degree and six more students are researching in the fields of Image processing, Machine Learning, Speech processing and Video processing.

She has also supervised 25+ Master dissertations and 50+ undergraduate projects. In addition to regular teaching, she had developed and delivered several courses such as Application of Image processing, Computer Vision, Advance Signal Processing, Electromagnetic field and Transmission lines, Multiple access Systems, and many others. She as completed five consultancies in the areas such as Development of Finger print recognition algorithm for Nucleonix Biometric solutions Division, Hyderabad, Fault Diagnosis of Rotating Machinery Using Fuzzy and ANN, M.S.E.B Koradi and three for Central Water & Power Research Station, Khadakwasla, Pune, on topics like Estimation of Depth for a reservoir, from noisy data, Velocity and the direction measurement of water in a physical hydraulic model and Ultrasound sensor calibration for silt classification. She was appointed by SPPU, Pune as Syllabus coordinator for ME-Digital Systems.

Dr. Arti Khaparde has been referred with 5 PhD theses for evaluation by various Universities in India. She is reviewer for Elsevier and WSEAS Journals. She has delivered numerous invited technical talks at various conferences aboard. Dr. Khaparde is Life Member of ISTE. She was also a Technical Convener for National Conference on ’Sixty Years of Transistor and its Impact’, organized by ATRI, Hyderabad, in collaboration with IETE and IEEE, during October, 22-24, 2009.
