Dr. Vishwanath D. The establishment of World Peace Centre of MAEER’s MIT, Pune, India on 1st of December 1996, after the First Parliament of Science, Religion and Philosophy, under the Chairmanship of Dr. Vishwanath Karad, to emphasize the importance of “Value Based Universal Education System” in promoting the ‘Culture of peace’ in the global society, has been one of the most unique and historic contributions for the well-being of the society. This remarkable work of Prof. Karad deserves to be recorded in Golden Letters in the history of World Peace.

The world peace centre of MAEER’s MIT, Pune, India – the brain child of dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, firmly believes in what the 13th century saint philosopher saint Shri Dnyaneshwara had stated “The whole universe is a manifestation of pure intelligence and consciousness”. The centre, further identifies itself with albert Einstein’s assertion “i believe in god, who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of the universe, and i believe that intelligence is manifested throughout the nature”. Rahul Vishwanath Karad is an enterprising young educationist in the forefront of the 72 institutes strong MAEER’S MIT Group of Institutions, Pune with over 55,000 students under its fold. He is also the Executive President of MITWPU, the newly aquired University of MIT Group of Institutions as it’s mother campus, Kothrud, Pune. A graduate in engineering and a post graduate in management from Cardiff U.K, Rahul, is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School, U.S.A.

Rahul is advancing the inherited vision and mission of his visionary academician father Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Karad, Founder MIT Group of Institutions, with a fearless passion and deep rooted patriotic content in his heart. He holds a firm conviction in channelizing the power of youth to augment their active participation in our pluralistic democracy. His true nationalistic consciousness keeps finding expressions through numerous activities that he initiates and infuses a renewed sense of pride and patriotism amongst the young budding minds.

Addressing his burning desire in contribution to Nation Building prompted him trudge a new path reflecting in the shape of MIT School of Government. With his energized focus and genuine involvement, the School is honing and nurturing the next generation of Indian Political Leaders and his efforts are appreciated, placed and valued in the national context. Through extensive deliberations and dialogue of 3 days, he aims to ignite the spirit of thousands of teachers every year so that they continue to look beyond the commercial temptations for creating deeper and wider impact on the society through this noble profession. He firmly believes that as we are fast moving towards the knowledge Era, we are sure that NTC will benefit all the important stakeholders of Education Process including Students, Teachers, Parents, Industry, Law Makers and Society at large.

He is also the Founder & Convener of National Women’s Parliament (NWP). This is a common platform for women from diverse background like politics, social sector, education, sports, industry, media, cinema, arts & culture, judiciary and young aspiring girl students to stage their experiences ,share knowledge and research in the area of women’s social economic and political empowerment. Its first annual national conclave was hosted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh on February 10, 11 & 12, 2017. Over 18,000 girl students from colleges of Higher Education were connected to women legislatures, parliamentarians, women corporate leaders, and representatives from social sector for a reciprocal and continuing assignations. The platform will stay faithful to its endevours till significant progress is made in achieving respectable representation of women in national and world political order.

He is the Founder of Rashtriya Sarpanch Sansad, a unique initiative to bring together Sarpanchs from different villages, Government, Media and Experts with a long-term Vision of Rural Development and to ignite the spirit of Sarpanchs and enable discussions on issues related to agriculture, role of women in village development, CSR and Government schemes, Role of technologies, through extensive deliberations and dialogue.

Dr. S. Parasuraman having Master’s Degree in Anthropology and a Ph.D. in Demography and was serving as the Director, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India. He has over 25 years of experience as a teacher, trainer, activist, administrator, and development worker. He has a strong foundation in critical thinking, conceptual and analytical skills.
He has held key positions in international organizations: as Asia Regional Policy Coordinator, ActionAid Asia; Senior Advisor to the Commission, and Team Leader of the Secretariat; World Commission on Dams; and as Programme Director, Oxfam GB, India Programme.

Dr. Parasuraman has been associated with the Narmada Movement from 1987 and was a member of the Indian Prime Minister’s Committee to review the Tehri Hydroelectric Project. He has also been Key member of the ‘Practitioners Forum on Human Rights in Development’ (facilitated by the UNHCHR), involving UN agencies, bilateral and multilateral agencies, and NGOs with Asia regional offices based in Bangkok; and Key member of an NGO network engaged in advocacy with the Asian Development Bank. Prof. Parasuraman has over 50 publications in the form of articles in international and national journals, books and research reports.

Dr Mangesh Karad is an eminent educationist and the Executive President of MAEER’s MIT Art, Design and Technology University, Pune. Dr. Mangesh Karad is a graduate in Mechanical engineering and has received his doctorate on the “Social Impact of a clean and green environment – An intellectual approach”.

With over 3 decades of experience in Maeer’s MIT Group of Institutes, Dr. Mangesh Karad has realised his vision of “Academic excellence and World-class infrastructure”. Dr. Mangesh Karad has tie-ups with several overseas institutes of international repute. In less than a decade, Dr Karad has established a technical education hub over a campus sprawling over 125 acres of lush, green land and has set-up a string of start-ups, including a Mol Mitsui Simulation Centre for students of Marine Engineering that’s architecture as a ‘ship’ modeled from an actual, unused vessel, Alang at Loni Kalbhor. He has setup Atal Innovation center on MIT-ADT, Loni campus for promoting start-ups and fostering research culture.

He is also responsible for setting up many novel and unique educational institutes catering to niche domains considering the industry-institute gap, such as the Maharashtra Academy of Naval Education & Training (MANET) that imparts engineering education for the maritime industry. Executive Director of MIT Vishwashanti Sangeet Kala Academy is an Engineering Graduate, having special focus on Indian Classical Music, Dance as well as instrumental Music. Mr. Rajendra Shende
Expert of Management / Information Technology

Rajendra Shende, an alumnus of IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Bombay and former Director of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Paris. He presently serves as Senior Expert nominated by Government of India to United Nations Environment’s Technology and Economic Assessment Panel (TEAP).

He is the Chairman of TERRE Policy Centre, a think-tank and action-platform on energy and food security, Advisor to Paris Based ‘Media India’ agency engaged in Europe and India relations and member of Advisory Council of IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Rohtak for incubators for start-ups. He is also Hon. Chairman of the International Advisory Council of “Operation Earth” a leading NGO is People’s Republic of China.

As a Director in UNEP in Paris, he led the global programme to protect the stratospheric Ozone Layer under the international UN agreement of the Montreal Protocol. Considered as one of the most successful global environmental agreement, Montreal Protocol has achieved the total phase out of dangerous chemicals all over the world that depleted the Ozone layer. That success has avoided the global disaster due to depletion of life-saving ozone layer.

As Coordinating Lead Author of the special report of IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change of United Nations) he contributed to set in motion, for the first time, a global understanding of the scientific linkages between the stratospheric Ozone Layer and Climate Change.

His numerous awards at international level included a Nobel Peace prize given to IPCC for which he was Coordinating lead author and is proud owner of Nobel Peace Prize citation.

He received two awards from USA government for his contribution successful protection of the Ozone Layer and second one for his efforts to stabilize climate change.

Harvard University’s John F Kennedy School of Governance awarded his programme for forging innovative partnership of the private sector companies for the global protection of environment.

His project won UK Industry award for convening global experts to develop the solar vaccine cooler (called SolarChill ), technology of which is not licensed and in public domain for the benefit of the society. Dr Abdul Kalam, late President of India has honoured Mr. Shende for his efforts at Rashtrapati Bhavan

53 African countries and 12 Middle East countries gave citations to Mr. Shende for guiding them in implementing the Montreal Protocol.

The list of numerous awards includes those given by his State, District, Taluka and town i.e. Maharashtra Bhushan, Satara Bhushan, Koregaon Bhushan and Rahimatpur Bhushan.

Mr. Shende is state level rank holder being in first fifty in Secondary school examination and graduate of IIT Bombay. During his all college and IIT education he was a nationally declared merit scholar.

Before joining United Nations, Mr. Shende served the senior management positions in Private sector including Tatas.

He recently launched projects include, Green Olympiad, Urban Forestry, Centre for Climate Change and Health, Smart Campus Cloud Network for bringing sustainability to educational campuses using the Internet of Things and Cloud Networking.

Widely travelled Mr Shende has lectured in number of countries including MIT-USA, University of Berkley-USA, Beijing University-China and IIT-Bombay.M

Group Captain D.P. Apte (Retd) is a Registrar at Dr Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University, Pune. He is BE (Mechanical), MSc (Aerospace), MSc (Strategic Studies) AMAeSI (Propulsion), MBA (Marketing) and has number of diplomas and memberships of professional institutes. He is a Gold Medallist of Cranfield University, UK.

He has more than 39 years of experience as an engineer, manager, teacher and counsellor. He has distinguished service of 25 years as an engineer in India Air Force (IAF). He retired from IAF in year 2002 when he was commanding Central Servicing Development Organisation of IAF. Since 2002 he is Director and Professor at MIT Group and now Registrar of MIT World Peace University.

He has authored 14. books in the area of Operations Research, Probability, Combinatorics, Statistical Tools for Managers, and Logical Puzzles titled ‘Logiriddles’ to prepare students for interviews and ‘Magic of Subconscious: Transformation through NLP’ which are very popular titles among managers and students. His latest books ‘Reboot Your Mind: Move from Negativity to Positivity with NLP’ and Marathi book ‘Kod Amacha, Dok Tumacha’ are published recently. His next book titled ‘A First Course in Probability and Combinatorics’ based on MCA semester III syllabus is scheduled to be published in next week.

As a corporate trainer he has conducted number of workshops and seminars for industry on various subjects including ‘Use of Statistical Tools for Managerial Decision Making’, team building and performance enhancement.

He conducts motivational programs for students using Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and is a practicing NLP counsellor.
