Bio

Dr. Saroj Shinde holds a Ph.D. in Public Health from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Her doctoral study was "Seasonal migration and reproductive health issues of women sugarcane cutters in western Maharashtra." She pursued her MPhil in Public Health from the same institute (TISS, Mumbai) and her MSc in Health Sciences from Savitribai Phule Pune University. She considers herself to be a potential researcher in Public Health. As a result, since her master's, she has decisively researched the health of vulnerable population pockets, such as pavement dwellers, tribal women, and sugarcane cutters in Maharashtra. In 2015, she was awarded JRF-SRF for five years by UGC in Social Medicine and Community Health. She believes she has developed her scholarship through errors, made her way, and still trying to improve. She has presented her research work at several state and national conferences and participated in training workshops related to research in Public Health. She has published about seven articles in Marathi on various platforms, such as Aksharnama, Parivartanacha Vatasaru, and Kartavya Sadhana. She has also published some of her research work in English. More recently, her research article received an award of honorable mention from Brandies University, USA, and was published in the Journal of Caste- A Global Journal of Social Exclusion. She is very determined and passionate about research in Public Health. She believes in bringing change in the same area and can create an excellent “Public Health Cadre” through teaching and research. Her research interests are Women’s Health, Migration and Health, Tribal Health, Reproductive Health, Health Promotion, Impact Evaluation, Qualitative research, and Community Health Studies.
