Bio
Dr. Minal Deshmukh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at MIT-WPU and has been associated with the institution for the past 15 years. She brings over 17 years of combined teaching and industry experience.
She has successfully completed a DST-funded research project worth INR 50 lakhs under the Young Scientist Scheme, along with a research project funded by BCUD, Savitribai Phule Pune University. She has also undertaken several consultancy assignments based on her domain expertise. Dr. Deshmukh has published 35 international research papers, attended numerous national and international conferences, and holds 7 patents to her credit. Her consultancy and research work focuses on biofuels, carbon capture, oil spill removal, water treatment, and solid waste management.
Dr. Deshmukh completed her Ph.D. in Bioenergy and M.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Pune University. Her key research areas include bioenergy, drilling operations and drilling fluids, enhanced oil recovery, eco-friendly solutions for oil spill remediation, and carbon sequestration. Her research has been published in reputed journals such as Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy & Fuels, and Environmental Science and Pollution Research.
She has been honoured with the Women Achievers Award for Excellence, Leadership, and Impact by the Society of Women Engineers and the Outstanding Researcher Award in Chemical Engineering by VIVA Foundation. Throughout her academic career, she has taught various chemical and petroleum engineering subjects and guided numerous B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. students.
Apart from academics and research, Dr. Deshmukh has actively contributed to several administrative responsibilities, including NAAC and IQAC activities, CAP Finance Director duties, industrial study tours at organizations such as ONGC and Cairn, national and international immersion programmes, research coordination, Ph.D. coordination, admissions, and examination coordination.
