Research Information


School of Electronics and Communication Engineering is one of the pioneer departments of then MIT Pune has excellent laboratory Infrastructure with the investment of more than USD One Million. With more than 400 computers spread in 20 laboratories, the School has the state-of-the-art hardware and software tools required for research in cutting edge technologies in the field of electronics, communication, software, electrical and in allied areas. The School has executed several projects funded by Savitribai Phule Pune University and some projects of Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and other funding agencies are undergoing. 60 lakhs worth ongoing projects sponsored by DST and ISRO Completed Consultancy Projects & Industry based Projects

Research Projects Undertaken / Ongoing :

  • Design and Development of Multisensory Smart Assistive Technology for Blind: This project has got funding of Rs. 23,70,000/- by The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India
  • Development of Algorithm for analysis of vegetation dynamics: This project has got funding of Rs. 20,44,000/- by ISRO.
  • Modification of TW3 RUS for Bone: This project has got funding of Rs.18,14,000/- by The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India
  • Development of PC based Instrument using Microwave Resonator for Measurement of Adulteration in Petrol (Funded by Pune University)
  • Enhancing TCP/IP Performance and Improving Internal Quality of Service (QoS) over Satellite Networks (Funded by Pune University)
  • Implementation of DSP based Digital and ANN Numerical Three Phase over Current Relays using TMS 320F28335 (Funded by Pune University)
  • Implementation of Video Coding Standard for Real-time Application (Funded by Pune University)
  • Computer Aided Detection and Classification of Breast Cancer (Funded by Pune University)
  • Performance Improvement of Modified Ground Plane Microstrip Antenna for ISM (Funded by Pune University)
  • Design and Development of Parallel Architecture for Cryptanalysis (Funded by Savitribai Phule Pune University)

The School has organized several conferences and workshops, and it encourages its faculty and students to participate in leading international conferences, seminars and workshops. To promote the culture of Industrial research; the School has fostered several academic – industrial alliances. PhD and Masters Students are actively involved in research activities of the School. In last three years, the faculty and students have published more than 120 research papers and 4 books/book chapters in renowned publications. Six patents have also been filed and published. Currently, the School has 10 PhD Supervisors guiding the doctoral students in above thematic areas.
