Department library is one of the most updated facilities available in the department catering for the need of students and faculty members. It has a good collection of printed text and reference books along with digital library facility accessible anywhere in department. This is inclusive of subscriptions to Science Direct, One Petro (SPE International) and e-journals related to other engineering disciplines.
Solid Handling Laboratory :
Unit operations form the building blocks of a Chemical Industry. The size reduction and separation of the material is handled in this laboratory.
Equipment available : Ball mill, Jaw Crusher, Leaf Filter, Filter Press, Elutriator, Cyclone Separator, Sedimentation, Agitation and Fluidization.
Subjects covered : Particulate Technology, Environmental Engineering and Chemical Engineering Practices.
Mass Transfer Laboratory :
Mass Transfer studies the movement of chemical components in different operations like distillation, absorption, extraction, drying, etc. Be it manufacture of petrol from crude oil or extraction of edible oil from seeds, mass transfer principles decide the purity and yield. Students perform these operations on the available equipment and explore the results.
Equipment available : Vapour-Liquid Diffusion, Steam Distillation, Wetted Wall Column, Cooling Tower, Tray Dryer, Liquid-Liquid Extraction.

Chemical Technology and Reaction Engineering:
Chemical Technology deals with industrial applications of organic and inorganic chemistry, quantitative and instrumental analysis, electrolysis and petrochemicals which form an integral part of our day to day life. This lab helps to learn the laboratory synthesis and analysis of the various chemicals.
Equipment available : All the basic as well as advanced glassware and chemicals required for any laboratory experiment in chemistry.

Process Instrumentation and Control Laboratory :
The operations of any chemical process are driven by Instrumentation and process control for better yield and product quality. It is highlighted by the fact that any Chemical Process Industry allocates around 40% of its capital budget for Process Instrumentation. This laboratory gives hands on experience of the instruments and control systems used in the industry.
Equipment available : Temperature measurement using Thermocouples and RTDs, Pressure measurement using transducers, Level measurement using Ultrasonic method and air bubbler method, Valve Characteristics, Refractometer, UV Spectrophotometer, Conductivity measurement, First order system, Second order system, Ratio Control, Switches and PLC trainer.

Fluid Mechanics Laboratory :
Chemical process systems are governed by flow of fluids and energy. Chemicals and utilities like steam are necessarily transported through pipes. Also energy conservation is of prime importance. This lab covers the Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics aspects of the Transport Phenomena. Students can experiment on the parameters for fluid flow and heat flow patterns required for designing a system.

Mass Transfer and Separation Processes Lab:
Petroleum products are the backbone of modern economy. Application and cost of these products is decided by their quality. This lab helps to determine the quality of petroleum products like petrol, diesel, kerosene, bitumen, coal, etc.
Equipment available : All equipment are as per ASTM standards. ASTM Distillation, Dean Stark Apparatus, Abel’s Flash Point, Pensky Marten Flash Point, Saybolt Viscometer, Smoke Point, Cloud and Pour point, Aniline point, Reid Vapour Pressure, Bomb Calorimeter, Ring and Ball Apparatus, Oxidation Stability, Conradson Carbon Residue and Penetrometer. The Separation equipment include: Absorption using Sieve tray, Membrane Separation Unit, Adsorption using packed bed and Ion Exchange.
