Programme Overview


Psychology is a highly relevant and interesting subject in a world of increasing responsibilities and complexities in the life of people across diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. B. A (Hons) Psychology study program is an in-depth course which takes you through a scientific journey of understanding mental processes and human behavior. The course is a blend of theory, readings and practical that allow aspirants to gain insights into biological, cognitive, social aspects of human behavior.
Psychology aspirants have a broad scope of pursuing higher studies e.g. masters and doctoral programmes in one of the psychology sub-field. Numerous areas of expertise namely practicing psychologist, researcher, professor, counseling for sports psychology, expertise in psychological testing etc. await graduate and post-graduate students. Students’ knowledge and competencies acquired during bachelor studies will prove to be a stepping stone in pursuing careers in Business, Media, Management, Civil Services, Banking, Teaching and so on.

Programme Hightlights


The B.A. (Hons) Psychology course at MIT WPU introduces you to an in-depth study of Psychology. The course follows a trimester pattern with the choice based credit system. It follows syllabus prescribed by the UGC and offers 14 core psychology papers, 4 psychology specific electives and 4 general electives. This course additionally includes 2 English Communication skills (AECC) compulsory modules that are English Communication and Environmental Science of 4 credits each and 4 Skill enhancement courses (SEC) modules of 2 credits each which include MIT World Peace University modules. This makes it a unique programme, the only kind offered in India by any University. Programme Structure


The course duration for B. A (Hons) Psychology is three years spread across trimesters and each trimester will have a number of courses with specified credits.

  • 1st Year – This year included 4 core psychology papers (theory + practical) and 2 general psychology papers. The program requires you to achieve minimum 25 Credits to be achieved in First Year for admission to Second Year.

  • 2nd Year – This year included 6 core psychology papers(theory + practical) and 2 general psychology papers. This year minimum 20 Credits to be achieved in second year to be eligible for admission to Final Year. The student should clear all the subjects of first year to become eligible for admission to Final Year. CE- Continuous Evaluation, TE- Term-end Examination.

  • 3rd Year – This year included 4 core psychology papers(theory + practical) and 2 general psychology papers. CE- Continuous Evaluation, TE- Term-end Examination. CE- Continuous Evaluation, TE- Term-end Examination.
