Programme Overview


Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) Economics is a three-year programme based on a choice based credit system and syllabus given by the UGC. It is restructured into trimester pattern with components of peace subjects offered as a part of the MIT-World Peace University Curriculum. The curriculum includes core subjects, compulsory ability enhancement courses, skill enhancement courses, and Generic Electives & Discipline Specific courses. This makes it a unique programme, the only kind offered in India by any University.

Programme Objectives


The Objectives of the undergraduate program in Economics is to provide students with a solid grasp of Indian political system and other Economic System within the context of global forces, International conflicts, social movements, Ideological system, and diversity. The Program to develop:

  • To develop a sound understanding of economics principles

  • To develop the ability to parsimoniously and formally model economic decisions.

  • To develop the ability to explain core economic terms, concepts, and theories.

  • To familiarize students with historical and current events from an economic perspective.

  • To expose them to alternative approaches to economic problems through exposure to coursework in allied fields.
