The chemical industry is directly responsible for contributing in excess of USD 5.7 trillion to the global economy and directly contributes to over 120 million jobs. Chemistry is also intrinsically necessary for the advancement of multiple technologies, researches and commercial enterprises due to it being an applied science.

MIT-WPU School of Chemistry is an excellent mix between science and engineering. The school has been established to ensure that our students get the best academic, experiential and industry centric knowledge pertaining to chemistry for all branches of engineering at the F.Y.B.Tech level. For students of Chemical, Petroleum and Polymer engineering, the school runs courses such as ‘Physical and Inorganic Chemistry’, ‘Organic Chemistry’ and ‘Oil Field Chemistry’.

Welcome to school of Chemistry at Dr. Vishanath Karad MIT World Pease University. School is dedicated to excellence in education and research in the field of Chemistry. School has excellent working culture and laboratory facilities and comprises of highly experienced and qualified faculty. The school caters to an undergraduate level of engineering faculty and provides basis chemistry knowledge required to solve complex engineering problems and facilitates lifelong learning experience to the students. Students benefit both from access to classroom expertise and hands-on experience

School offers a Postgraduate program, M.Sc Industrial Polymer Chemistry (IPC). Polymers are important industrial engineering materials. M.Sc. IPC program will help students to acquire art in designing and developing polymeric materials such as adhesives, coating, elastomers, composites etc. The syllabus of M.Sc, IPC is in accordance with international standards. The program also involves Industrial Internship in the polymer industry. This program have great potential in providing a perspective of essential chemistry and technology related to the polymer industry. The program also encompasses polymer waste management issue.

Padma Vibhushan Dr. Raghunath Anant Mashelkar is a renowned scientist known for his contributions in non-Newtonian fluid mechanics, gel science as well as polymer reaction engineering.

Dr. N. N Maldar

Dr. N. N Maldar, former Vice Chancellor and Professor, Department of Polymer Chemistry, School of Chemical Sciences, Solapur University did his Ph. D. from NCL, Pune and Post-Doctoral research in Japan and USA.

Mr. Sudhir Pitre

Mr. Sudhir Rajaram Pitre currently serving as a director of Garware Bestretch Ltd; passed the L.P.R.I. (London) and worked in various positions in the Rubber Industry as a product development manager, chemist, quality assurance manager as well as project manager.

Atul Killedar

Dr. Atul Killedar

Dr. Atul A Killedar, Manager – chemical technology, Vishay Components India Pvt. Ltd (former Philips), did his doctorate in thin films under chemical sciences. His expertise includes management of coating technology for electronics, technology transfer projects, material analysis, RoHS, ELV, WEEE data management and REACH compliance management.

Dr C V Rode

Dr. C. V. Rode

Dr. C. V. Rode, Chief Scientist, chemical engineering & process development division, NCL, Pune, did his post-doctoral research as a JSPS fellow for a year. He is a visiting professor, JSPS and URV, Tarragona, Spain. Research areas include multifunctional catalyst design, bio-mass valorization via catalysis, new generation bio-fuels and structure-activity correlation.

Prof. Suvarn Kulkarni

Prof. Suvarn Kulkarni pursued his post-doctoral research in Taiwan and California. Held a faculty position at IACS Kolkata prior to joining the IIT Bombay in 2009 and is currently an associate professor
