Students experience a unique integrated Peace Curriculum as a part of all study programs of higher education at MIT-WPU, Pune. The peace studies are not only incorporating ancient practices of learning through Yoga and Meditation, but also focus on Social Entrepreneurship and Human Dynamics. The program is designed by renowned experts and promotes the concept of attaining ‘World Peace’ through the mechanism of Learning, Practicing, Living, Sharing, Spreading and Securing Peace.
The curriculum for all undergraduate and postgraduate study programs at MIT-WPU is based on extensive Trimester Pattern of studies. This pattern ensures that the curriculum is in-depth and highly engaging for students during the entire tenure of the program. The Trimester Pattern ensures that the students gain from much wider and multi-dimensional knowledge to give them a distinct edge over their peers when they join the Industry.
A unique methodology for imparting education was derived to optimise learning through classroom lectures for the students. In Two Faculty Teaching Model, two Teachers address one classroom. The Selection of Faculty under this mechanism is carried out with due diligence such that one teacher conducts the class / case / lecture, while the other teacher will compliment by adding different value added facets to the Teaching-Learning Process. The team of faculties identified always complement each other in terms of knowledge, skill-sets, experience and giving every student the required attention. This method is applied for about 50% of Lectures / Sessions in any given study program. These lectures are always pre-planned and mentioned in lecture records. The interactive sessions generate insightful and conflict free discussions through effective moderation by the Faculties. Students are grouped to facilitate collaborative learning through idea exchange. Availability of two teachers covers all possible learning gaps.
The Continuously Updated Education is a highly evolved education system of MIT-WPU Method that keeps the curriculum constantly upgraded by factoring recommendations from Industry and Academic Council. CUEd ensures that Students stay abreast with the latest development and trends in their respective fields of study.
- As a part of WPU Academic Framework, National Study tours are conducted for 1-2 weeks and follow a pre-planned structure of imparting experiential learning to students. The students attain specified credits and receive Joint certificates from Institutions of repute at the end of this program.
The WPU Academic framework focusses on delivering Academic and Practical Knowledge to match Global Industry Requirements through highly engaged International Study Credits. This involves 4-6 weeks of planned International tour, whereby Students study and experience actual working of noted Industry, Organisations, Government bodies and Universities relevant to their field of specialisation. The students attain specified credits and receive Joint certificates from affiliate Institutions of repute at the end of this program.
Rural Immersion Projects are designed to give an exposure to students about the environment and problems of rural landscape and how modern technology and management concepts can be applied to improvise the rural society’s living condition. Students work on water conservation and storage, irrigation channels optimization, farm equipment’s, organic fertilizers, waste recycling, composting, solar power generation and similar applications for the upliftment of rural landscape. There is an emphasis on Social Immersion Activities that reinforce a students’ curricular learning with the real-life learning by engaging with the society under different situations. Intense societal engagement enables a student to have a broader perspective of the problems faced by different sections of the society and how his learning can be applied to develop innovative solutions that have a wider impact. It’s meant for bridging the gap between Rural and Urban India i.e. connecting ‘India’ with ‘Bharat’.
The Biographies of great Leaders and Change Makers always inspires us. We believe reading someone’s biography like a story is very entertaining, however if we actually bring the ideologies of great and successful people into our lives, it has a transformational impact on some key area of our life. Through Biography Studies we ensure that our students will not only read the biographies but also study them, discuss them and identify key takeaways. Students have to give presentation with PPT in front of the class and they would be evaluated by the faculty. There are Credits given for this evaluation.
We have initiated our endeavour to Partner with over 1200 organizations across sectors for 6 – 12 months of industry internship to facilitate real world experiences for students. Additionally, we promote Social Missions by inculcating Social Responsibility among students through activities oriented around the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

WPU Learning pedagogy is designed to offer a 360 degree learning absorption mechanism for a student. Recognising that no single method can offer complete learning, the WPU method combines different delivery methods such as –Live Projects for a comprehensive knowledge enhancement in the field of specialisation. This method emphasises on learning the concept by doing and application. The Live projects are designed to enable students develop practical skills while learning the concept behind the model.
The WPU Method of learning ensures value added Skills and Personality Development for its students through a series of practical programs. These programs are assessed and conducted during regular schedule of the curriculum. WPU method of learning promotes acquisition of additional knowledge and skills that look ahead of time and enable a student to remain competitive. As technology changes very fast, it is desirable that students undergo additional certification programs to keep abreast of changes and remain at the forefront of employability matrix. WPU has entered into strategic alliances with industry leaders of different segments to offer skill-oriented certifications. As a part of student’s curriculum, the attendance in these programs is mandatory for final certification to be conferred. Students are allotted credits and certification on the basis of their performance and practice of these Value-added programs.
MIT-WPU maintains an archive of select Movies that impart lessons relevant to life skills and sometime from the given field of study. The Film Appreciation exercise is conducted for students, whereby each student should watch 3 movies in a year. There would be a discussion in class on the learning values and students have to submit written appreciation on film in about 500 words. This method of learning emphasises on nurturing observation, interpretation, expression of opinion and classroom exchange of Film reviews and summaries.
It is a specially designed program, which draws from the age old Indian Guru (teacher) and Shishya (Disciple) parampara (culture). In this program, knowledge on multiple dimensions is imparted to a student through the developing relationship between the Mentor and the Mentee. There are regular sessions of mentors with their mentees that help in overall development and tracking of progress for ensuring results and setting new benchmarks for further excellence. The Mentor Mentee Network is available to all MIT-WPU students.
The WPU Methodology emphasises on Developing Sports Culture and fostering other Cultural Activities at MIT-WPU. The unique WPU Method propagates early age adoption of athletic and sports by the Students, as regular sporting is known to develop fitness, improve performance levels and tackle with daily stresses at a raised level of confidence. ‘Sports Culture’ is being attained as a part of regular curriculum at MIT-WPU through regular coaching, talks by the experts from the field of sports & nutrition, formation of various Students Clubs, Continuous Sports Activities for all MIT-WPU Students, Inter class sports matches throughout the year, MIT-WPU Peace marathon on 21st September and Sports meet.
WPU has evolved a higher order learning pedagogy which combines multi-dimensional activities on campus, Social immersion activities and development of employability & Life skills, which is balanced by stress-busting Indian practice of Yoga and Meditation. WPU method combining technological excellence and a Peace curriculum has proven to be a milestone in the journey of students’ towards life transformation. The learning methods aim to develop higher order thinking skills and ability for problem solving, critical thinking and team work which are need of the times in a highly competitive business landscape. Students start their day with light exercises, Yoga and Meditation. In-class interaction involves intense discussion on case studies, situational analysis and Problem Based Learning assignments in addition to interactive lecture sessions followed by field projects, surveys and evening meditation. Curricular content is available 24x7 and comprises Digital Learning Management System of video capture of lectures, self-paced learning modules graded as per difficulty level, interactive assignments and other e-learning
