The Department of Computer Science was founded in 2004. As a part of Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University we follow unique WPU Methods of imparting education. In the modern world data collection and analysis are key for successful businesses. Study of the optimum ways of data collection and ways to use them to study complex systems, to draw conclusions about these systems, and the decisions taken, all deal with the domain of statistics.

Apart from modern e-commerce and Digital business establishments, R & D Divisions require experts in statistics, and data Sciences. The Post-graduation programme in Statistics under Liberal arts, Science and Commerce faculty at Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University, effectively trains its students to fulfill this requirement.

Training of statistics Students are required to establish a significant mathematical knowledge, to develop computational capability to manage large databases, derive insights from data and to identify, in parallel, the furnace restrictions and errors. Welcome! It is my pleasure to share with you some aspects of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at MIT-World Peace University.

The Higher Education in Mathematics is an important instrument to enhance academic standards and quality in higher education and innovation in various streams of science, commerce, engineering and agriculture. Students from many disciplines take mathematics or statistics to strengthen their quantitative and analytical skills and understand its application in varied fields. The demand for strong mathematical science skills is growing as the range of positions that require mathematical abilities expands into many areas – engineering, physical sciences (eg. hydraulics, thermodynamics, vibration analysis, marine engineering, power generation), social sciences, biological sciences (e.g, quantum mechanics, meteorology, astronomy ,oceanography and mathematical biology), business, finance, medicine, national security, e-commerce, Data Analytics and others for several years to come.

World Peace University has identified potential employers in government and in industries who might be needing the expertise imparted to students during two years post graduate course in mathematics. Bachelor of Science. (Computer Science)

B.Sc. Computer Science is an undergraduate computer science course. It is a 3 year full time professional credit based applied course including mathematics, statistics, and electronics along with computer science subjects. B.Sc. Computer Science is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to develop innovative solutions which the modern computing industry requires.

B.Sc. Computer Science degree allow students to increase their knowledge and understanding of computers and their systems, to prepare them for advanced positions in the workforce. B.Sc. Computer Science course aims to develop academically competent and professionally motivated computer personnel, equipped with objective and critical thinking that compassionately foster the scientific temper with a sense of social responsibility.

Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)

Department of Computer Science of School of Liberal Arts, Science and Commerce at MIT-WPU offers a three yearfull time professional programme in Computer Applications under the faculty of Science, known as-Bachelor degree in Computer Applications (BCA).

In this era of information Technology, modern technologies are integral to our day-to-day life. In view of growing demand of IT professionals in the area of computer application, a course like BCA is need of the hour, where student can apply mathematics and electronics along with computer science subjects that will help solve problems produced by the interface between business and technology.

The Department runs Undergraduate programmes BCA, B. Sc. (Computer Science) and Post graduate programme of M. Sc (Computer Science) and MCA. All programmes are well supported by highly experienced faculty and state-of-the-art infrastructure, including well-equipped Laboratories. WHY BCA ?

In the modern professional world, the BCA programme has become an important preparatory level graduate course after completing Class 12, especially in the context of the IT industry which will require a large number of competent professionals in coming years, more so at the entry level. It is in this context that BCA assumes a significant role.

All the necessary subjects required for setting the right foundation is offered at BCA level starting from Mathematics which strengthens the background achieved at the 10+2 level, Programming languages & Data Structures which hones the logical thinking & problem solving capabilities, various application software to give understanding & knowledge of the tools used in IT industry and even hard core theory papers like Digital Logic, Computer Architecture and Operating Systems for understanding the inner workings of the computer system.

M.C.A. (Science)

In line with the demands of the new Internet and Digital Technology era, the Department of Computer Science at MIT-WPU School of Liberal Arts, Science and Commerce is working to cater to the needs of skillful and knowledgeable human resources in the field of Computer Science and its Applications.
The Department runs under graduate BCA, B. Sc. (Computer Science) and post graduate programme M. Sc (Computer Science) and MCA programme. M. Sc. ( Computer Science)

M.Sc. (Computer Science) is a postgraduate computer science course. M.Sc. (Computer Science) is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to develop innovative solutions which the modern computing industry requires.

M.Sc. (Computer Science) degree allow students to increase their knowledge and understanding of computers and their systems, to prepare them for advanced positions in the workforce. It is module based, and students engage in intensive training through lectures, supervised research, and small peer-led training. Coursework often includes data science and technology, software engineering, system development, and artificial intelligence. This program require students to have earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science, and can be completed in one to three years, depending on full, half, or partial enrollment capabilities.

Students who successfully complete an advanced computer science program often have an increased ability to think critically, rapidly and efficiently solve problems, and develop software.

M.Sc. (Statistics)

Statistics is both a formal science and a practical theory of scientific inquiry, and both aspects are considered in statistics education. Education in statistics has similar concerns as does education in other mathematical sciences, like logic, mathematics, and computer science. Statistics education research is an emerging field that grew out of different disciplines and is currently establishing itself as a unique field that is devoted to the improvement of teaching and learning statistics at all educational levels.

M.Sc. (Statistics) degree prepares the students for higher studies, research in Statistics and to work with finance or software industries. It also paves the way for further research and opens job opportunities in teaching, civil services etc.

A degree in Statistics enables understanding numerical and graphical data summary. It provides an insight into understanding the world geographically, socially etc in terms of weather, population, employment, birth-death ratio etc.It also helps in organized problem solving such as collecting , analyzing and drawing conclusions.

At the same time, statistics is concerned with evidence-based reasoning, particularly with the analysis of data. Therefore, education in statistics is quite similar to study of subjects like psychology and chemistry, in which education is closely tied to “hands-on” experimentation.

Eligibility for B.Sc. (Computer Science)

MIT WPU follows UGC specified eligibility norms while accepting applications for admissions from students. To be eligible you need to meet the below mentioned criteria-

    • Passed 12th / (10+2) / HSC (Science) with Mathematics subjects.

    • Three Years Diploma conducted by BTE, Maharashtra after SSC.

    • Passed its equivalent examination.

Eligibility for B.C.A. (Science)

In order to be eligible for admission to Bachelor of Computer Applications a candidate must have passed.

    • HSC (10+2) from Science Stream with English as passing Subject with minimum 50% marks (45% for Reservation category) in aggregate.

    • Three years Diploma of Board of Technical Education or its equivalent.

    • Every eligible candidate has to pass Common Entrance Test to be conducted by the respective Institute/College.

We offer state-of-the-art infrastructure with air-conditioned rooms which are ICT enabled for seamless learning of students. Hostel facilities will be made available for students on payment basis within 1 and 1.5 km. radius of the campus.

The Library is automated and it provides OPAC facility giving full information regarding books issued/returned/journals/CDs/DVDs etc. Library is providing Internet Access and Online Database.

::: Library Forum :::

has been established under MIT Group of Institutions. Idea behind this is to share electronic resources to the sister Institutions, Conduct seminars conferences workshops FDP’s under the forum. Under this various electronic resources has been purchased which includes electronic journals/books data bases, electronic journals back issues archives. Faculty members, students and researchers are now take benefit of IEEE, Springer, Science Direct, EBSCO, Prowess, J-Gate N-List Such type of databases.
The College Library started a new activity through the web services. Library has started its own Blog to share recent and updated information. Aim of this blog is to share and exchange of recent information and keep updated to students as well as faculty members and also Library has started to share the information through social networking website i.e. face book. This venture has received a great response.

::: Computer Laboratory :::

The college houses centrally Air- Conditioned Computer laboratories with 162 branded dual Core Branded Desktop networked with two servers.

In addition to this, the e-campus at MIT World Peace University, Pune, with approximately more than 1000 computers are directly linked to the college network with a dedicated High Speed lease line internet connection with a bandwidth of 350 MBPS.

Centralized Printer facility is provided for students. There is a facility for online teaching and Practical’s. The college has four servers loaded with various Software like Oracle, Visual Studio.NET Advanced Java, Mat Lab, Asp.NET, Page maker, Corel Draw, Red Hat Linux which are accessible from all Desktops. Qualified lab staff is available to guide the students.

::: Maths and Statistics Laboratory :::

The Department has a separate well-furnished Mathematics and Statistics laboratory with computers having internet facility. All computers have recent version of Sci- Lab, MS-Office and C. There is a facility of LCD Projector for effective teaching. The students of B.Sc and M.Sc (Mathyematics)can avail the facility of mathematics and statistic lab to enhance their academic performance.

::: Furnished Electronics Laboratory :::

    • LASC comprises of well-equipped and well-furnished electronics laboratory.

    • The lab is equipped with LCD projector to implement ICT as a learning process.

    • It consist of Computer’s connected with LAN and installed with all required software’s like Pspice, Keil, MATLAB and NASM.

:: Classrooms ::

The classrooms of LASC are specious, student centric having maximum capacity of 120 students.

::: Gym :::

Our fully qualified and friendly staff are on hand to guide our students through the introduction process which will get you started for gym. It’s a one to one session designed around you and your experience of the gym. The sessions start with introduction to equipment’s.

::: Cafeteria :::

A full-fledged cafeteria is available at MIT World Peace University campus where wholesome snacks, Lunch and Dinner are served. A cafeteria is provided for students within the college where tea, coffee, snacks, soft drinks are available through the day. A good mix of popular vegetarian and multi-cuisine spread is available such as Maharashtrian, Punjabi, South Indian, and Chinese amongst others.
