“There are so many take-aways from MIT. So many of which have helped me get to this station of my career. If I must narrow down to the maximum impact take-aways then it has got to be the manner in which my lecturers and professors imparted knowledge, both theory and praxis. That the knowledge imparted was effective was reflected in my career in so many telling ways.”
MIT’s inculcation of discipline and the culture of value based education proved to be the keys that opened up my career for me. Yes, MIT provides opportunities for balanced learning, through classroom inputs as well as creating an atmosphere that helps students to develop capabilities to implement those theoretical inputs in real life conditions. In a nutshell MIT makes of its Students a force that brings concepts to life.

B.Tech-Polymer, Batch – 1987
I am an MIT alumnus from the very first pass out batch of 1987 in BE-polymer engineering. The credit for this institutions journey goes to the visionary Dr. Prof. Vishwanath Karad sir, who dreamt about this long back & of course all our honorable teachers / professors, especially the great Late. Shri. M. V. Joshi sir. Frankly, I feel without him polymer engineering would not have been in place & flourished like this. I personally feel very proud to be a part of this unique, innovative & ever progressing institution.
Since then I have been associated with MIT for some or the other reasons. Today looking back at all these golden memories of outstanding successes not only in the field of academics but whichever events MIT students / alumni participated.
Looking at MIT-WPU today, it gives me immense pleasure to witness the glorious success story that it is continuing. I personally wish MIT-WPU a great success in all future endeavors and I wish to be an inseparable part of it forever.

I studied Polymer engineering at Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune during 1994 till 1998. I must say that those were one of the best days of my life both personally and professionally. The institute not only gave exposure to some of the great academicians but groomed my personality overall. MIT was pioneer in establishing futuristic courses like Polymer Engineering.
I chose Polymer engineering to study even after being in top 25 students in 12th in Maharashtra state with some apprehension in my mind. Looking back after almost 20years, I feel proud of my decision and I believe big contribution of this goes to MIT and especially to Department of polymer, petroleum and petrochemical engineering then. The curriculum had right balance of materials and chemistry of polymers along with processing, application and elements of engineering led by some visionary faculty like Prof. M. V. Joshi. Very unique combination in those days for engineering courses as those were mainly focuses on engineering side and less on material side. What it had done for prospective careers is wonders!!! Many of Polymer engineering students were picked up or got enrolled in world class universities for courses in materials science right from biomedical to semi-conductors. I know my friends, peers and seniors from MIT, Pune who are leading world class organization across the globe in chemical industry especially in materials domain.
I believe this is not small stature for institute which is relatively young compared to well established government owned institutes in India. MIT was established in 1983- and in the last 34 years its has produced some brilliant engineers, leaders and more importantly highly motivated human beings. It has shaped students from all over India and from all segments of our social system who are doing far better than many other schools in India. I have been recruiting polymer engineers since 2011 when I returned to India and I can proudly state that engineers from MIT are more employable than their peer institutes simply because they are thriving to excel. I wish MIT-WPU to continue their journey and as an ALUMINI I am very proud of it.

Department of Chemical Engineering-IIT- Kanpur-India
B.Tech-Polymer, Batch – 1996
As a Doctorate Professor at IIT-Kanpur, I am teaching and guiding students for M.Tech.& Ph.D. level research and Industrial consultancy. Post completion of my BE-Polymers in 1996 from MIT, I joined NCL Pune and attained Ph.D. in 2001. Later I went on to work as a post-doctoral fellow at Levich Institute, New York from 2001 to 2004. Thereafter I have advanced at IIT, Kanpur from being an Assistant Professor to Professor and C V Seshadri Chair in the Department of Chemical Engineering. When I was MIT, it has stalwarts such as Prof. M.V. Joshi and others. The knowledge received during four years at MIT was sufficient to give confidence to comprehend most of the aspects of polymer science and engineering at any national or international forum.
I was taught Rheology by Prof.Basargekar of MIT Institute and I would give him complete credit to make me choose to work on this subject. I could not think of any bigger contribution. My strong foundation laid at MIT has helped me achieve numerous National & International recognitions of repute during my professional progression such as the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award, ‘Young Scientist Award-by NASI’, ‘Outstanding Investigator Award by DAE-SRC’, ‘Young Scientist and Young Engineer Award by INSA and INAE respectively in year 2006 and 2008.
Notable achievements & awards received
Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in Engineering Sciences (2015)
National Academy of Sciences (NASI) – Scopus Young Scientist Award, 2012 (2013)
Department of Atomic Energy – Science Research Council (DAE – SRC) Outstanding Investigator Award (2012)
Distinguished Alumnus Award of Maharashtra Institute of Technology Pune (2010)

It gives me immense Pride in being an alumnus of MIT, Pune. MIT gave me not only a good engineering knowledge to be proficient in life but gave me great friends, confidence for Life and many Good teachers to learn from. The morning prayers we sung at MIT campus called ‘Pasaydan’ have been an integral part of my morning prayers ever since the habit got strongly inculcated in me during my 4 years of study with MIT. Apart from driving my business, it is my values and education that enable me to take special interest in contributing in my voluntary roles as Trustee-Bhilwadi Shikshan Sanstha-an education enterprise, Vice President- Maharashtra Chess Association and Director- Rotary International –Sangli District.
“It gives me great pleasure to say that I have completed my graduation in management from MIT School of Management, Pune. Throughout my three years of BBA at MITSOM College, I had countless opportunities to develop analytical skills, leadership & communication skills, life skills, effective time management and proactive thinking through various programs and events. MITSOM College proved to be a pool of opportunities for me. These attributes were the key reasons because of which today I am successful in my start-up Businesses. A Big thank you to all my faculty and friends who have helped me grow both professionally & personally. It was an amazing journey and I would highly recommend it to all.”

“MAEER’s MIT, to me, stands apart in providing a unique opportunity to interact with and build relationships with exceptional people – fellow students, alumni, and staff. The rigorous academic curriculum is unparalleled in being supplemented by activities to develop oneself along multiple dimensions by participating and leading activities at a cultural, literary, sport and scientific level in a highly creative environment. Even after graduating many years ago, not a day goes by without feeling a sense of pride for MAEERs MIT, a deep sense of gratitude for the knowledge and confidence the institution imparted, and the friendships formed there.”
