MIT WPC Central Library

Maharashtra Academy of Engineering and Educational Research was established in 1983. Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) was started in the year 1983. Since its establishment, MIT has tried to develop various facilities required for running different programs. MIT Central Library was established together with departmental libraries, in 1983 with the inception of college.

Currently Library stocks more than 70,000 books which covers as the branches of Engineering includes more than 4000 reference books.

Library subscribes to various National and International journals.

Library is divided into three sections viz. stacks and circulation, Reference and Journals and MBA collection, bound volumes and book process section.

Separate digital library is available for accessing E resources. Library subscribes to all important online databases viz. IEEE, Science Direct, Springer etc. Two separate reading halls with a seating capacity of more than two hundred readers are kept open for extended hours.

Books Purchase:

    • Purchase of Books takes place twice a year i.e. in the 1st and 2nd semester.

    • Requirements of the material to be purchased are invited form the staff members through HODs of the respective departments.

    • For book selection, sometimes Exhibition are arranged by the vendors / publishers.

    • Requirements are compiled by the library staff.

    • Quotations are invited from vendors.

    • Accordingly purchase orders are prepared depending upon the discount rates, terms and conditions of the vendor. Purchase orders are signed by Chairman, Secretary and The Principal.

    • In exceptional cases, on urgent basis cash purchase of books is allowed with prior permission of the Principal only.

    • After issuing of purchase orders, material is delivered by vendor to the Library.

    • Received material is processed in the library and bills are sent to Accounts Department for payment with the Signature of the Principal and respective purchase orders.

Circulation:

    • Books-A teaching staff can issue maximum 15 books and non-teaching staff can issue 5 books for one semester.Students can issue their books as per the rules displayed.

    • Reference Books and Journals-Reference books and journals are available only for reading at library and Xerox purpose.

Maintenance:

    • Stock Verification-Stock of books is verified yearly and missing books are recovered by defaulter students.

    • Journals-The subscription of all national and international journals are renewed yearly and bound volumes are kept in the library for reference.

    • Question Bank-After every examination the question bank is updated with recent question papers.

    • Library Software (SLIM 21)-Software is maintained with regular backup. AMC renewed yearly.

SLIM21 System for Library Information Management is a software package for information managers in Schools, Colleges, Universities, Research Institutes, or Corporate Houses having collection of Books, Journals, Reports, Standards, Patents, Maps, Charts, Newspapers, Magazines, Audio-Visual Disks, and Digital Material.

SLIM Features:

SLIM offers wide range of functionality not only to maintain catalogues but to carry out material activities on a day to day basis. These functions are grouped under various modules. We can select modules as per our requirements.

    • Basic Modules – Acquisition, Cataloguing, Circulation, Serials Control, Article Indexing, OPAC

    • Enterprise Module – Web OPAC, Web proposals, CAS-Current Awareness Service, Stats-Usage Statistics, IIL-Inter Library Loan module.

Rules & Regulation

Membership

    • Students are supposed to take the membership of the library by producing their fee receipt of the current year.

    • Only Library members can avail the library facility.

Circulation

    • Enter the name in the entry register kept at the circulation counter.

    • Home lending books and general books are issued to all eligible members.

    • Students are permitted to borrow four books for the period of fifteen days.

    • Borrowing of books can be made against the library card only.

    • In order to get the books renewed, they have to be physically presented at the circulation counter of the library.

    • Books are reissued only if there is no claim.

    • Reference books, bound volumes, journals are not lent out of the library.

    • Book in damaged condition will not be accepted from the reader.

    • Loss of book must be reported immediately.

    • The readers should check the book thoroughly for missing pages, chapters, pictures etc. while borrowing the book.

    • Duplicate Library I card will be issued against the Borrowing facility can be withdrawn or restricted in case of misbehavior or misuse of the library.

    • A late fine of Rs. 1/– is charged per day for the books overdue.

Overnight Issue:

    • Library provides overnight issue of text books for its users. Only one book can be issued to a student against library card, for overnight use to be returned the next day by 10.30 a.m. A late fine of Rs. 10/– per day is charged for overdue books.

General Rules:

      • Readers are requested to observe strict silence in the library.

      • Students must carry their Library Card with them, whenever they visit the library.

      • Mobile phones are not allowed in the library premises.

      • Eatables, smoking, chewing tobacco are not allowed in the library

      • Readers are advised to use the Reading Room only for studying.

      • Tearing/damaging of books by students will be penalized.

      • Members are required to keep their bags/belongings at the baggage counter.

      • Discussions and chit-chatting are not allowed in the library.

      • Any query/problem should be reported to the Librarian immediately

MIT-WPU School of Business

MIT-WPU School of Business Library has always been striving hard to meet the expectations of its users. The library is one of the best academic libraries, with its collection of more than 25,000 books & 100 printed journals & Periodicals, Besides printed books and journals, its collection contains all forms of documents such as CD-ROMs, on line databases, audio-video material, standards, specifications, theses, reports etc. The library has access to more than 8000 electronic journals subscribed by the library are accessible to the all users through Institute’s network. The users can access the online library catalogue and find out the availability of library materials from their own computer terminals. It provides the world class information support to its users.

Library is open for all MIT-WPU staff & students though non-members can also utilize its resources with the permission of the Director.

Rules & Regulation

      • All the students/scholars and outsiders entering the Library shall deposit their bags and other belongings at the entrance and sign/thumb Impression in the Register at the checkpoint. Only notebooks and the Library books to be returned will be allowed inside. Do not to leave any valuables at the Check Point. Library is not responsible for any loss of personal belongings. All files, books and notebooks must be presented to the securityguard at the checkpoint for inspection while leaving the Library. Library does not permit any exception in the observance of this rule.

      • Identity Card is compulsory for getting access to the library.

      • Books removed from the shelves by students, if not required for reference, should be kept on the book trolley or on table nearest to them. Please do not try to shelve them yourself. Please remember that a book misplaced is a book lost.

      • The newspaper(s) should be folded properly after reading and kept back in the designated place.

      • Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library resources in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource. Books Borrowed should be protected from RAIN, DUST, INSECT, etc.

      • All the students/scholars are required to bring three copies of their recent photographs (Passport Size) along with the Fee Receipt while applying for Library membership.

      • All the students are advised to bring their own Reading Cards while using the Library.

      • The Reserve Shelf book must be returned on the due date between 9.00 am to 10.00 am. And General Shelf books on or before the due date. General Shelf books are issued up to 8.00 pm.

      • Claim for Reserve Shelf books should be made in the Register maintained at the counter between 8.30 am to 2.00 pm and they should be collected between 3.30 pm to 7.00 pm.

      • Books are issued to students for overnight during the examination time only.

      • Compendiums should be issued on reserve shelf card only.

      • Those students who do not return the books, issued for overnight use, in time, will not be issued any book for a period of 7 days.

      • All the students who want to return the books issued on their names are advised to wait until the books are shown as cancelled against their names.

      • The “PASS OUT” slip should be handed over to the security guard at the checkpoint before taking out the issued book/s.

      • There will be a fine of Rs. 2.00 per General Shelf book

      • Students are advised not to issue Books to others on their names.

      • Conversation and discussion disturbs library ambience. Therefore, all are requested to maintain dignified silence. If discussion is necessary, the common room should be utilized for the same.

      • Smoking is not permitted in the Library.

      • All users are requested to keep their mobiles switched off or in silent modein the Library.

      • Beverages and Eatables are not allowed inside the library.

      • No visitor or guest is permitted to use the Library without the prior permission of the Librarian. He /She is required to produce a proper introduction letter from the concerned Institution/Organization to which he/she is attached. A fee of Rs.15/- per day is charged for a visitor who wishes to use the Library facility.

      • No photograph of the Library shall be taken without the prior permission of the Librarian.

      • Library reserves the right to call back any issued book/item at any time.

      • All Users are advised not to keep Library books/journals (loose & bound) inside their cupboard without getting them issued.

      • Librarian reserves the right to check the Ph.D. & M.Phil. Tables and cupboards, whenever necessary.

      • All students are advised to come to the Library in decent dress as they are in the classrooms.

      • Demand and suggestion slips are available at the circulation desk for your use.

Masters Programme in Government Library

Masters Programme in Government Library was established in the year 2005. The library is well equipped with all resources e.g. National and International core publication books/journals and periodicals with unique collection of Eminent Guest Lecture DVDs/ Press coverage’s and other CDs.

Library also provides Wifi, printing and scanning facilities.

The purpose of our Library in the academy is to work as knowledge and information generated unit. Since the basic function of the library is to select, acquire and disseminate the books/documents/CDs and other information useful for course participants/students, faculty members, visiting faculty, staff of Masters Programme in GovernmentLibrary, so that their intellectual, moral educational academic research and creative needs are taken care of and they are equipped with latest knowledge in their field.

MACS College Library

The Library has a collection of more than 9376 books of B.A., B.A. Mass Media, B.Com, B.Sc. Computer Science, M.Sc. Computer Science, & Foreign Languages. It subscribes to over 29 National and International journals/magazines. The Library is computerized & also has collection of CD’s, DVD’s, audio/video cassettes, and projection system. The Library serves to be one of the strongest pillars of this Fort of learning. Library is automated for various Library related works and provides OPAC facility which provides full information regarding books.
